Surf Struggle Simply Salty

In the morning I (Jon) finally managed to get into my online banking and was relieved to find Nationwide weren't completely ripping me off. Whilst doing this I loitered around the office for a good wireless signal and a lady gave me a big box of food! They were leaving that morning and didn't want to throw it away. This was a welcome bonus, especially when we discovered the bottle of wine!

We set off 5 mins round the corner to a local waterfall, which ...

... the moment the dust storm struck! The air was filled with orange dust almost like a fog and it smelt too. Very bizarre, espeically as they hadn't had one in that area for about 30 years! After it cleared, everything was covered in dust!

In the evening we went for dinner at the Peregian Beach Hotel and took part in the Trivia. Having decided to join in, we did pretty well and were in the lead until the final round, 'Australian Music'. The rest of the pub found this very easy ...

Chilling with Mike and Anna

... climb mount Tinbeerwah. Abigail had been asking could we go the previous day so since her parents were busy with other things and Lachlan was stuck with a pile of assignments Alan and I offered to bring her with us. We borrowed Anna's car and headed for the mountain. You can pretty much drive up the whole mountain and just climb the least 500 metres or so. It wasn't too strenuous. We parked the car and Abi showed us the path to use to climb the last stretch of ...

Noosa & Australia Zoo!

... not pro surfers yet but who knows!!! After looked around shops... which are so nicebut out of our budget range :( which depresses us!! We have even had to demote ourselves to Black & Gold food shopping (which we think is Aldi equivalent!!! ha ha!!!) We are becoming dab hands in the kitchen and getting bargain foods... managed to feed our selves for 2days on 3pounds!!! Went out to see what nightlife is like... its quite relaxed but v.v.v ...

From Stradbrook to Noosa in 7 hours

... lower in my seat and quietly finish off what I can, picking up every crumb that drops. The trip up to Noosa is uneventful and not particulary pleasing on the eye, motorway and scrub. I catch up on celebrity gossip with a ****** girls mag and snooze, **** in the air style, across two seats. We arrrive in Noosa early as there are no pickups on the way, and we get there for 3.30. I wait for the free shuttle to the hostel and when it arrives ...

Crocodile hunting

... were staying. The walk took along beaches and steep headland including a nudist beach which we had to skirt around keeping our heads bowed to the ground in case we saw something that would take away our innocence. We left Noosa the next day wanting to just stop and be on our own as we were tired of travelling and sick of backpackers. Because of this we decided to spend a whole week in Brisbane knowing there was perhaps not much to do there.

Wet Sundays and Sleeping Rough

... didn't close and spider and toads were just wandering straight in. I closed my eyes tight, buried myself in my sleeping bag and hoped I'd fall asleep quickly, which thankfully I did. The next night they put us in a tent at the same campsite....bug free....woohooo....but at 2.30am Anna, Jen and I were forced to leave as the rain started to drip through the ceiling....we ended up sleeping in the TV room on the sofas, which as homely as it sounds was actually an open sided ...

Noosa Wedding...

... stories from Perth, Sydney and back home... Monday was another very relaxed day as we got things ready for the ceremony in the late afternoon, enjoyed the warm weather and another wander through the shops before heading around Noosa Heads and into a park reserve area for a fabulous walk through the trees. We kept our eyes open for koalas as we went but I reckon they were all snoozing in the afternoon sun rather than entertaining the visitors! The ...

Surfin safari
