      ... best option & rung around rental companies to find most of them were sold out of vehicles or charged a $500 one way fee. Got through to Hertz who had a car & were reasonably priced.       After a quick trip on the Everglades in an airboat at Buffalo Tigers, we stopped off at the Costco in Kendall. We stocked up on necessities and then went back to our campground. With the luggage stowed securely in the coach, we headed out, following Lisa and Rich to Cudjoe Key.

      Back to the story at hand. Beer before noon seemed like a good idea since it was my birthday. So a couple of cold Key West beers and a Sloppy Joe sandwich was lunch. No question, hands down, best Sloppy Joe sandwich ever. Highly recommend.

      ... The swimming pool was a first for Key West and the only one within 100 miles. Pauline had it built for $20,000 when she found out the Hemingway took Martha Gellhorn with him when he went to be a Spanish Civil War correspondent. Supposedly when Hemingway returned he held up a penny and said, "You may as well have my last cent." Pauline embedded that penny in the concrete by the pool.
