... feet, so on both sides of you (it seems like ten stories above you) the coral walls rise above you 15 to 20 feet, filled with life, crabs in the shallow nooks and Big Eels lying at the bottom under a ledge or in a hole. I have seen Eels before but these are big 4,5,and today I saw easily a 6 footer, with a girth of about ...
Half Moon Bay, Islas de la Bahía, Honduras scheible6... overbooked dive shops.
We found a nice little locally owned inn, Rubi's Inn, for $20 per night. It was clean, comfy, and right on the water with a dock of its own. Day two of our stay I jumped off the dock like a retard and either got the worst charlie horse in the history of mankind in my calf, or I pulled a muscle. We stuck to swimming as it took about 3 days to walk properly, let alone swim. No, it wasn't even a cool dive into the water or even an impressive cannonball ...
... and political leaders that his actions were outside the bounds of the Honduran Constitution. Zelaya earlier this year denounced democracy and announced he would seed a Venezuelan style of socialist government. He then began receiving large sums of cash from Hugo Chavez.
This last week tensions mounted. As Chavez and Ortega offered Military assistance, the National Congress of Honduras, the people of Honduras and the Courts of Honduras did not idely stand by ...
... would come and swim along with us, leave, come back, swim in between us. AWESOME!!! At the end we knelt in the sand and they both came down and were swimming in and out of us, all around, diving down over our heads, everything! It was such a cool experience to be kneeling on the sand at 60ft and petting dolphins as they swam by!!
Back in West End, I grabbed yet another Bale ado (Beef and Beans) for lunch and then took a desperately needed nap :) Got up and got ready and ...
... dive, it is cool at night because all the surroundings are dark so when you shine your light on something it really stands out. If you shut your light off and agitate the water you will see bio phosphours plankton that glow neon green pretty cool. That night we were going to watch the NCAA final but the power went out as it frequently does in the west end so we missed some of the first half and by the time we found ...
roatan, Honduras andrewp... trip. We set out from West End, sailed along the shore toward West Bay and then back the other way toward were we live in Sandy Bay. We headed back to West End, in time to watch the sun set on the ocean...ahhh, heaven. From there we walked to Lands End Resort for dinner. Ann-Marie was the guest chef and put out a delicious Italian Meal, served up by Roatan's best; Tita. The setting was perfect, thanks to Adi (Land's End manager), who added soft lights, warm colours and attractive ...
Roatan, Honduras gennyca... ve compared it so far to Mexico... the not so touristy parts. Little girls selling bracelets for $1 and malnourished dogs, but it's beautiful here, and the people have been great! Not too in your face, and just smiles and seems genuine to see new faces and chat. On that same note, the crew here is quite the same. We've had so many chats so far with so many crew. I think it's the fact that we do have twin infants with ...
Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras tll-tina... and drink, it is one of the best coral reefs in the world and I think I agree.. as it is so nice and shallow for miles.. and although we didn't dive due to costs, guests from our hotel that did dive said it was one of the best place to do it. They even still liked to snorkel as it is 'free feeling' (and free cost-wise for alot of the same sitings underwater.) We were out there like 2 hours ...
Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras djcynic... crash, workers (heading home piled in the back of pick-up trucks), tourists and people we know passing by stopped and helped. Dave and Ron (Bonnie's husband) rushed to our sides. Poor guys - seeing us so badly hurt was as traumatic for them as it was for us. So now we are recovering. Sarah left for Guatemala. Bonnie found enough strength to make a lemon-meringue pie, when we went to visit her a couple of days ago. And I hope to get back to writing in a few days. So ...
Roatan, Honduras gennyca... I almost landed right in the lap of this poor Honduran lady who was asleep...I apologized as much as I could in Spanish and she smiled...I think she was just happy I did not throw-up on her!! Finally securely on land I think both Jess and I where thankful the bike was not on the boat but still a bit weary and wouldn't feel completely calm until the next morning when we could pick her up. Our first night we had booked a hotel from a small travel kiosk on the ...
