      ... were able to get on the last tour of the day. Our guide was a very sweet, elderly lady who had been doing tours for many years. I enjoyed the tour very much. The details and history of the Capital Building are fascinating.

      We wrapped up our 3rd and final day in DC with a walk by all the Senate and Congress Houses. You can feel the egos and pollution, I mean politics, all the way to the streets' edges.

      ... it is closed for repairs after an earthquake in Virginia in 2011. We haven't had a good day's walking for several weeks because of the weather, and Terry really set a cracking pace. Walked over to the White House, and looked at it through the fence across the South Lawn. It was pretty exciting to see such a famous, important, historical icon.

      It was pretty cold by this, so we found a place to have lunch and a sit down. Washington ...

      ... close by...Nandos! In the afternoon we went to Capitol Hill, (such a beautiful building), and then on to the United States Botanical Garden, and finally the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. It was then time to set off on the long, and very sore walk back to the hotel! We were lazy at tea time and just ordered a pizza to our room! We have already walked nearly 20 miles over the passed two days, so roll on tomorrow for the next 10 ...

      I have a top bunk, so its just a case of lobbing everything up there and let it sort itself out, later


      There is a locker to store all your valuables in, but my lock don’t fit, so we adapt things and now it does, there is their kit spread all over the room in various piles, I just slide it over so I can spread my own out a bit


      Now its just a bit of time to get some of this down before this evening

      We started off viewing, as Forrest Gump said, "our nation's capitol." The Capitol building is very impressive, and you can tell why they call it Capitol Hill...it is literally on a hill.
