This area is magnificent and is one of the 7 natural wonders of the world. It's easy to see why. At the barge where we got our kayaks was a live fish pen with several large fish inside. One was easily identified as a jack, but the others we don't have back home. Our guide said he had tried fishing but was not ...

... their parents and of course the skills that go with fishing. In rare occasions when the children were sent to the mainland for secondary schooling (about age 12) their inability to use technology, ride a bike & socialise led to their return to their village and what they were comfortable with.

Pollution in the area was once a very big concern but government efforts to clean it up has been mostly successful. We did not notice pollution in the water at all.
