The beautiful karst islands of Halong Bay were to be our next stop for a couple of nights. We got picked up (by the wrong person!) but managed to change to the right bus soon after. ... but I can 100% rule out Halong bay. By law every single boat is painted white and is flaked as hell. They are all crammed full of people, leaky, and full of smoke from their huge, stinky engines(not sails). I'm not complaining I'm just saying what it's like.
