After a fairly pathetic start, we managed to catch around 6 fish between us, it wasn't really a competition but I did catch 3, but really there were no winners...except me. ... so it produces a pearl. Using what looks like surgical equipment the staff pry open the oyster and implant a coral bead into the oysters embryo where after many years of growth will grow into a pearl. Each group which goes through the farm get to open up an oyster by the tour guide, some are lucky and get pearls (as not all oysters end up producing one) while others get a pearl but not a perfect one. We opened up our one and we were so lucky as not only did we get a pearl but ...
