The overnight bus from Bangkok to Phuket was a-o.k. We befriended some locals and they took pity on us for looking like fish outta water. They recommended that we check out Patong and I also had a recommendation from Pierre so we thought, why not. We checked into Touch Villa and had a good little nap before checking out the beach. It was an average beach with a great sunset. Looking around, we started to realize that there were a lot of older men hanging around with much younger Thai women. E...

Chiang Mai, Thailand rjknowltn... smelled or tasted or were used for. We have been pointed out places to see flying squirrels, various birds and marches of ants, leeches and finally, when after a day of walking thought thick, steep jungle tracks and gentle forests, layered rice-paddies in the hillsides, past tiny huts and buffaloes and tourist camps, all of which offered a fantastic, steady paced trek, we were shown a large green spider as large as my palm.
This animal fascinated me, and have spent about an hour ...
Chiang Mai, Thailand gabador... I can write a profile for the products I am selling in New Zealand. I also asked them how they would like me to go about it, and together we worked out a good plan on how to work together best. They also asked me questions, and were eager to know if I had a husband or not. We laughed alot, and I feel that I am starting to have a really good relationship with them.

The bus ride to the camp costs me 150 THB, for the loverly cook and nurse from the camp who was busy attending ...
Chiang Mai, Thailand oniburger... literally all day; Its quite fun to begin with but by the third day it has become a bit old! However, we had a good time and met up with some girls that we had met in Bangkok as well as meeting up with Juan, Caty and Amanda for an IHF fundraising exibition on one of the beaches. We also spent a fair few evenings chilling out on the beach smoking Shisha (the best I have had anywhere) and drinking beloved old Chang! We left ...
Ko Phangang, Thailand cavalierx... around my body and not letting go... Did go for a walk up the river to where a small footbridge crossed it. Dusk was falling as me and Pete went across and I had my hands on the thin wire as I was finding my footing on every third/fourth rung (as there were many gaps, and when there was a rung in place it seemed about 20 years old!) I had to be the one to do it though - ran my hand along the wire and snagged my finger on some BARBED WIRE!!! Who puts that there?! I ...
Chiang Mai, Thailand comedyad... My sandals pack easier than my shoes, but in these hot countries sandals are preferential to shoes unless you are going to a chilly mountain top or a club/restaurant where sandals just aren't appropriate attire. With a month in the soaring heat of Cambodia next on our itinerary, I am tempted to throw out the shoes and just depend on sandals until I need a pair of shoes again. I suspect that won't be until we reach the northern parts of Vietnam nearly two months from now.
Phuket, Thailand aaronpolarbear... at Phuket airport. The town is cute, and cozy and very very Thai. It was relaxing and we treated ourselves to the 50% discount at the hotel spa experiencing for the first time a Tropical Fruit Body Scrub. I don't know what was in it, but it smelled deeeelicious like lemongrass, and fruit with some milky mixture and exfoliating beads. The women massaged us with the mixture for an hour scrubbing our pores (which could get painful) and letting us soak in the scrub ...
Phuket, Thailand chuang84... Next I checked Haad Son Resort. 500 B for a bungalow that looked like a room in the Four Seasons Hotel. It had great common rooms and a pool. Hmmmm. I did't really want to spend that much. Next door was a place called High Life Resort (use your imagination--the answer is yes, if you are so inclined.), 350 baht a night, best view yet, amazing pool also with a view, great common areas with good music pouring out of the ...
Phuket, Thailand supergWell, judging by the padded walls and stark white tiled bathroom, I think I stayed in an old mental asylum in Phuket town, which is probably not a bad place to stay for a man attempting to invent an alter-ego to chat with on the lonely days. My company on this occasion was a cockroach who was disturbed when I had a de-mentalising blast under the shower. Fortunately, I only spent two hours in my room in total as I headed to Patong ...
