Topnotch Resort and Spa
Travel Blogs from Stowe
... an historic village a bit like a Timber Town on the north coast. Our hotel in Hartford was away from the city centre but only a 10 minute drive away. Hartford is the Capital of Connecticut and quite large by AUS standards. The following morning we visited Mark Twain's house ( or should I say Samuel Clemens) then hit the road to Springfield via Brattleboro trying to keep off the interstates as much as ...
We had a good week with Mom, Dad the boys princess and Grandma and Grandpa.
When the motor home arrived and drove up on Camp Rd., all we could say is man is that thing HUGE. Grandpa stayed up the road and the little guys slept over they had fun playing legos in ...
... are almost home! The White Mountains greet us in New Hampshire and we enjoy a familiar landscape. The clouds threaten rain and we prepare ourselves... Sara dons the rain gear, Mark will weather the storm. An hour from home and we encounter spots of heavy rain, although we aren't bothered, we are soaked. It's a bittersweet return. At the sound of the bike our neighbors welcome us home and Mark kisses the ground. We can hardly believe its over. What an amazing ...
... was pretty good, though too strong for me. My hosts are a great couple, very active in the local and touring bike scenes. We had a dinner if fresh tomatoes and pesto that tastes like summer on a plate, even though the weather took a turn for the worse in the evening. They showed off their impressive music collection and showed me some great routes for tomorrow, another short day!! North Hero VT > Burlington VT, 40 miles, day ...
Early 6 o'clock morning start! Tara and I still sleeping while dad and Max are in the camper ready to go! Tara and I woke up with all the load bangs and pows, we laid back down and were SO happy to officially be on the road! During the driving we took a nap, played on our iPods and watch alot of movies (identity thief, lion king 1 1/2 and Marley and me) we planed on going zip lining but wild cat was closed cause the rain! So instead we dropped by a little place ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Topnotch Resort and Spa Stowe
My Wife and I had a great visit to Stowe and stayed at Topnotch. The staff form the concierge to the doormen were truly five star. They truly were there to do anything they could to make you stay enjoyable. We stayed the first week of December and the hotel and Stowe for that matter was not busy at all. No need for reservations at any restaurant yet. The spa was great and my wife enjoyed it. They were finishing up spa renovations which should make the facilities great. There is an indoor pool, hot tub with waterfall as well as sauna and steam room which is open late and a nice way to end the day.
Topnotch Stowe, top food and top spa
Topnotch......Top Food and Top Spa. My wife and I drove form Boston to stowe this past fall enjoying the Vermont leaf season. A three day stay at Topnotch resort was just the ticket. A great retreat spot with a "not to be missed" spa..
I have not visited this resort in the past ten years or so and was not certain what to expect. While the hotel was a bit weary or tired in its appeal the great dinners, spa treatments and genuine hospitlity that we recieved supported the hotels ratings and left us "wowed".
Before leaving we made reservations for our winter ski break. We won't be skiing Utah this year
we will be spending more time at topnotch and skiing stowe.
Not real impressed....
I had heard many positive things about the Topnotch and was very excited about staying there. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed. I expected far more in appearances and quality. Our room had a very musty smell to it and we were immediately moved to another. It was extremely, extremely small. Very disappointing. No views whatsoever unless you consider the covered pool worth looking at. The lounge area was always too smoky to sit in. We had breakfast at Maxwells which was good. I do have to say that the staff is very courteous and attentive. I will save my money on my next trip to Stowe and stay at the Trapp Family Lodge.
Great escape for my wife and I with our three children 11-16.
Not worth the $$$
Was not impressed by the service or the decor. The pool and spa were better than the hotel which seemed as if it hadn't been updated since the 70's.
when your expectations are of a four diamond quality resort, i must say i was very disappointed.
the suite was overpriced for its appearance and quite small compared to others of similar ratings and price. believe me , I have stayed in some very nice establishments,
It was ok if it were a 3 star reflection, the staff courteous, the pool was excellent
this was topnotch perhaps 30 years ago.
by no means does this resort belong in the fine hotels of the world category.
i expressed my disappointment and was offered a free nights stay , if we gave it another chance
we will not take them up on their offer.
My wife and I spent a great weekend at the Topnotch Spa. The exterior (and to be honest, interior) are not stunning, but the rooms were clean and comfortable and the spa services are very well done. Maxwells, while a bit expensive, had great breakfasts and a very solid dinner (try the fois gras!). Additionally, I was extremely impressed with the reservation people. When I told the person I talked to that we were going to be there for our anniversary, she was very helpful and even upgraded our room. She was also quite helpful in combining two of their special packages in order to get us the mixture of price and spa services that worked for us.
Hawaii in Vermont
Once I had a massage my vacation began. Brunch at "Maxwell's" with their smoked salmon benedict and a spicy bloody mary made me wish I could spend more time on the mainland. Outdoor pool with mountain view on a bright, sunny day was more than I had dreamed of. Staff truly caring, friendly and plugged in. They make all they difference in a completely effortless stay.
Don't expect more than a Motel 6
Boy were we disappointed !! Over-rated, teeny and depressing rooms that have not been refurnished in years. Teeny bathrooms. Room so small that they put the coffee maker on bathroom sink rim. Room smelled like mildew...and for this they charged $299/night. Do yourself a favor and take a pass.
Better that you think
My husband and I heard about the Topnotch from a friend. We were driving to Montreal and wanted to stop someplace nice on the way.It was not only beautiful, it was comfortable and the staff is incredible. We have been going there every 3 months if possible for the last 3 years. The spa is 1st rate without a stuffy staff. We have tried a different treatment every time we go there and have never been disappointed. The last time was a maple sugar scrub. You can get anything.Everyone is very friendly the restaurant "Maxwell's " is incredible, you should see their wine list. The food is to die for. Last of all check out there web site. Look at the pool it's beautiful, every season has been wonderful. Try itm they have great specials/packages.
