Historical Traveler Reviews of The Westin La Quinta Golf Resort Marbella

I won't go back

from pmetka
Everything was begining fine , room upgraded (i am a PGMember ) service : smile and kind . but after 2 days ....

- car parking service , told us (very rude way) to park our car and pick it up ourselves !! this service is charges 3 euros !! and suddenly you can't have it anymore with no explanations !

- in the room i found spider webs and the balcony was never cleaned ,ashtray left by the housekeeper in our opened suitcase , just in my clothes ! very nice . My husband found a shirt wich was not our ! means the rooms are very well cleanded , i am sure it is still in the room now..... In 5 nights we had only 2 "goodnights" chocolates from the housekeeping ! and our friends who had an other room never had it !

- breakfast service : very slow and long waiting . and fruit (like cherry) were not cleaned !

conclusion: i am very disapointed and so are our friends , and never go back in this hotel wich pretend to be 5 stars ! and i paid 180 euros per night !!!

Service was Disappointing

We agonised long and hard about where to stay in Marbella and based our choice of the Westin on the fact that the Westin in Dublin is excellent and the reports on this site. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are lovely and overall we enjoyed our stay. However the hotel does have some shortcomings which I believe results in it falling short of its five star status. The food served in the restaurant is charged at five star prices and the food itself is good however the service in general is very shabby. Every morning I would have to walk around the restaurant to find a waiter to take our order and again to ask for tea after. It was the same when we ate dinner in the hotel, we were left waiting far too long between courses and the table service was intermittent. The service at the pool bar was the worst, on our last day we were left waiting an hour for a club sandwich and a diet coke (@20 euro for a sandwich and soft drink, you would think the service would be better!). Also, we were overcharged in the bar on a drinks round, when there were only 2 other residents in the bar, so it wasn't as if the barman was too busy (heedless rather). In addition, it appears the hotel does not have a good relationship with local taxi companies, to get to the port one night we had to wait an hour, the concierge agreed that this sucked and that he would be angrier than us at this (especially since we had told a taxi would be right along). We were disappointed overall, because at the prices they charge, at 1480 euro per night and with the costs of meals/drinks etc. we would have expected better - we will not be back.

Very Relaxing Environment

First, let me say, the company paid for our stay here, so I don't know how expensive it was. However, if you can afford it, this is a beautiful resort hotel in the mountains. The views are spectacular and the "Heavenly Beds" are everything they say they are. The food was delicious as well. The pool was very nice and made for a very relaxing stay. We would stay here again. The only downside is that it is a little ways from the town, but that also has its benefits.

Westin Service & Room were excellent

from EUROPEEXPERT
The hotel staff were very friendly and the service excellent. Worth paying extra for a pool view room. Dinner was overall good if ordering the right course off the menu. Skip the paella as it was not worth the 38 euro for 2. Golf course is OK but nothing spectacular. It doesn't take that much time to get to the beach by car from the hotel, if you want the beach stay at a beach hotel otherwise you should not be disappointed staying at this Westin. Parking was 8 euro a day in a secured parking location under the hotel.

5* Service and Views

First trip to Spain and we arrived and were greeted by the staff, who were very friendly. We immediately checked in to our room, changed and headed to the beautiful pool which overlooked the sea from upon the mountain we were on. The Westin is away from the tourist area and located in a residential area of very nice houses. The breakfast was amazing, the Moorish bar downstairs was very cosy.

5 night stay

from Kitty-sayre-2004
We just returned from staying at the LaQuinta for 5 nights. The staff was very warm and friendly. After finding it, which the road signs have a lot to be desired. Don't try it at night. It is a smaller hotel but probably would not appeal to people who want a lot of action. It is about 5 miles to the beach and Puerto Bunus. They seem to have a lot of group meetings there. The location is good for day trips, Mijas, Ronda, and Gibraltar. The weather is warm and the views are great. I would return.

Quality as usual

from jeremyge
Just spent my third week in 4 years at the hotel. As usual the room was excellent (roomy and the general upkeep of the room was first class). The breakfast buffet has all you could wish for irrespective of your country of origin.

We tried the Japanese at the hotel a couple of times which I would recommend if you are looking for a break from Spanish food once in a while. Good value and the food is very authentic.

The gym though not exacly huge is well equipped and was very quiet during our stay.

The staff were friendly and helpful and the guy at the golf desk who assists you in booking at the local courses was very helpful.

Loved the Westin!!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
We spent 6 days in Marbella, at the Westin. It was magnificanet. The positives are the service, the restaurants, and the pools. We went with our two kids -- and it was a perfect mix of calm, pleasure and fun. We loved the restuarant in the evenings, with the slight breeze and warm air.The Room (a poolside suite), was large and in excellent condition. The only downside is that the hotel is NO WHERE NEAR the beaches... approximately a 15 minute drive.. and then parking. We went in August -- but had very little problem finding parking at the Mallaga beaches. The town is wonderful, as are all the towns in Spain.

Lovely Hotel

from MarylandTravelers
We recently spent a week at the Westin and enjoyed ourselves tremendously. Our room was lovely and the staff was very attentive. We enjoyed the food and we found the concierge staff to be especially helpful and courteous. My one recommendation is that as a five-star establishment, the hotel should invest in more irons. They don't have irons in the rooms, so you have to request one and we were told that they only had 10 to cover the entire hotel--at one point they couldn't find one for us for over 48 hours! If you stay there and you manage to locate an iron, keep it as long as you can. Other than that, we had a lovely stay.

La Quinta - highly recommended

from A TripAdvisor Member
We recently stayed several nights at the Westin La Quinta and we loved it.

The hotel is fairly new (only a couple of years old) and it is built in traditional Andalucian style. It's only 3 or 4 floors and is very tastefully decorated. The rooms are beautiful and the king size beds are enormous! The Japanese restaurant in the hotel is excellent.

Large swimming pool is the nicest we've seen in the Marbella area. Golf is also very convenient (although not cheap) and there are 27 holes to choose from. I would thoroughly recommend a stay at La Quinta any day, it's really a wonderful place to stay and relax.
