Beautiful, lush, Savannah with giant oaks and plenty of Spanish Moss, we felt like we stepped onto a movie set. Savannah is a beautiful coastal town in Georgia with plenty of history and beautiful sights to see.

... the buildings a research station. Around the same time the British also oved in and built a seperate research station that was in use from 1947 to 1969. As part of this station they also built an aircraft hanger in 1961. It all came to an end in 1969 after a large mudslide, again caused by volcanic activity, took out several buildings and the cemetary. Today the buiding have been cleaned up but are being left to rot away. After this trip it was back to the ship for the night.

Savannah is really a great place to visit. If you go make sure to take the trolley tours, it's well worth the money. It's nice to sit back, not worry about the traffic and listen to your guide as he narrates the tour. You are free to get on and off as you wish, because there are many areas where you will like to spend some time.
