What a sweet deal, and yes we definately made sure we got value for money!

The rest of the day we had to ourselves. The ship set sail from Athens to Mykonos and so all we had to do was sit back, soak up the sun on the pool deck and start making a dent in our all-you-can-drink card!!!

I think i'm going to get very used to the crusie ship lifestyle!!

Until Mykonos...

They did build some neat "behive" tombs underground, however I think they stole (or gave the idea) to the Egyptians (who were doing similar things with their ancestors about the same time, give or take a few thousand years).

We threw in one more Greek island for 2 nights, Hydra, which has no cars and everything you'd imagine a Greek island to be, complete with ...

... and when they offer help (free of charge) its best if you take advantage of it. Luckily for us, our new friend Ahmed was one of these genuine helpful-souls and within 30 minutes we had disembarked from our bus (and after an adventure on the Cairo metro) we were showered and ready for a quick local meal. We spent the night eating cheap local eats at a restaurant that serves one, and only one amazing dish. Koshery ...

... which was also about 500m from the Acropolis). We got our bearings a bit and had dinner outside in a major pedestrian restaurant area. Although definitely touristy, the area was still a lot of fun. After dinner, we found a square surrounded by about 15 different bars/cafes/restaurants, all of which had the Euro2008 Spain vs Germany final on big screens outside...although all tables were full, we politely sat down with another couple...and ...

We saw the ancient theatre of Dionysos and the newer theatre of .....(someone else?). We spent a little while up there but then the heat got to us and we heaed down through the 'ancient Agora' site and had a look at the museam of Ancient Agora which houses among other things Greek Vases. They had statues there dating back to 450BC ...

Going Slow in Greece

... in Euros, we also noticed that there are actually women on the street here... very wierd after the Middle East, where they either just weren't around, or if they were, they were covered head to toe. Greek women are much more.....liberal with their fashion ideas, but it all of a sudden seems shocking after being surrounded by burquas for the past month to see so many little strappy tops and short shorts. While the toilets ...

The ship has 11 (yes, 11!) dining options for you to consider which include: 2 formal dining rooms, an Italian restaurant, an TexMex/Tapas restaurant, the buffet, and a casual dining restaurant serving burgers and such. They also have specialty dining ...

... church. It is beautiful in a much more simple way. We stopped and picked up a little Fanta and Rum. It was a suggestion of someone in the store and seemed like a good idea. We went to the room for a little while and had a few drinks and then wandered across the street to Alexander the Greats. We had noticed the restaurant as we left the hotel this morning and decided that it would be a fantastic place to get ...

It's All Greek To Me

... narrow isthmus to link the Adriatic and the Aegean Seas. It is known worldwide as being the narrowest canal. Cruise ships have been known to pass through this canal coming inches from the canal walls. We had a look at the canal which just looked like one huge narrow ditch. There were however no cruise ships or other large boats coming through to make the scene a bit more interesting. After checking out the canal, most of us grabbed a bite to eat at a little ...

... as pets?!) A lot of the animals were in very poor conditions, and looked very sick as well. They had a Cockatoo there that I wanted to steal and take home - he was losing his feathers and didn't look too happy - How dare they do this to an Aussie native?! Alas, I couldn't just march in there and set them all free (especially the venomous snakes!) Clinton did want to buy a chameleon there as well. All the animals were so cheap - I really did feel so sorry ...
