... we have been served yet at the accommodations. We then headed off on a 7 km trek through Campuan Ridge where we met a real "local" or "loco" we are not sure which. He came running out of the long grass telling us a crazy story about how was just up a coconut tree, he climbed down, ran across the valley, swam through the river and met us because he saw us coming down the path. He then pulled out his three coconuts and huge knife ...
Ubud, Bali, Indonesia chelseyandkevin... got rid of them it was me who was their next target. One took a running jump at me from behind and climbed up me and into my bag. It then decided the beads I was wearing looked nice and edible and so tried to munch those and take them off me. Shook him off them so he turned his attention to my bag and attempted to climb in. In the end to stop him running off with anything I had to half drop my bag and just shake it until I was monkey free. We made a quick exit to the outskirts of the ...
Ubud, Bali, Indonesia ciaradoonerush... all the **** that goes on in this world whether its wars, plagues, genocides or exploitation - meeting those who may not be as privileged as you are but would give you the shirt on their back prove to me how huge things are not always done by big, famous, rich, and powerful people. They are done by those who do the most they can with whatever they've got. "Little," "insignificant" people like Nyoman in my eyes keep this world from falling apart completely. I say ...

In the evening Chris and I stayed at the guesthouse chatting for a few hours whilst Tom and Andy occupied themselves at the internet cafe. Andy also spent quite a while by himself to calm down over his camera situation. Poor guy.
Day Three:
Tom, Chris and I managed to get up for breakfast! Result! We had tomato scrambled eggs in two pieces of fried bread, delicious!

... the way there was a great scenic spot to stop off at and take pictures of the looming volcano with the beautiful lake below. As was to be expected, our driver tried to force us to stay with a more expensive place he recommended which was no where near a town. We stayed firm and had him drive us all the way to the bottom of the crater to the small town by the lake. Apparently there had been a fun full moon party the night before on the side of the ...
Ubud, Bali, Indonesia carrienica05... s poor. The latter has vastly improved the free healthcare provided to the population. The government is also encouraging entrepreneurship and the incentive to work by using low-to-no interest government loans to individuals instead of welfare programs that create generations of people who cannot help themselves. I couldn't gather from Daffe whether these loans have the high repayment rates seen by borrowers of ...
Kuta, Bali, Indonesia chiapoe... Ok? I was a little bemused. However, it takes ages and the queing takes forever. I reached the front and there were an old Jewish couple at the desk, funnily enough both carrying violins. They took 20 minutes - I'm not joking - to get through. They must've been around 70 and I was half expecting a rendition of 'If I was a rich man' seeing as half the issue seemed to be over the visa. Well Topol if you'd kindly pay the man in Rupiah instead of talking about chickens ...
Bali, Indonesia davidstodelWell we made it at last....our 1st trip to the oh-so-famour Bali. We finished lessons and took a taxi to the airport (30mins+ - approx £4)then into the bar for a quick Bintang while awaiting our 42 minute flight to Denpasar. Nenga was waiting to drive us to the Segara Village Hotel in Sanur...where we had a lovely (minimalist/modern) room with an enormous bed and walk-in shower and fabulous balcony (with day bed)overlooking the most wonderful lush grounds ...
Bali, Indonesia thedunckleys... He envisaged a Sweeney Todd-esque old-school razor, a lathering of the face, and a bloke in a white **********ering him something for the weekend. It was a masseuse with a Bic and a smearing of jasmine oil. Ten minutes later, reeking like one of those things grandmothers put in wardrobes, a rather disappointed but admittedly smoother of cheek Jacob accompanied Kirsty to a nearby warung for noodles and meatballs. Next morning, as we breakfasted on the verandah (in our white ...
Ubud, Bali, Indonesia jacobandkirsty... And all this for less than ten euros. Asti, the owner, was so happy to have a customer on low season. They had moved to Ubud with her husband and opened the place just two months ago so very understandable. She even hugged me and asked me to write pros and cons to her guestbook. In the evening we had Balinese fire dance show reserved, very different culture from ours but nice to see once in your lifetime. Ubud has been my fave place so far in Bali. Just loved it. Nora
