... they were not bothered by us and continued grazing. At the end of the reserve was an amazing beach where the odd deer ventured on to. I'm not much of a sunbather, I get bored and I don't go brown anyway so while Manda sunned herself I entertained myself watching crabs running around on the beach. I would love to stay here longer but we have to go tomorrow. On to Swaziland...also a separate country which I did not realise. I really should read up on places more before I go...
St. Lucia, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa littlemisbakpak... had seen them hunting animals, I explainied that many of them live on reservations and are very modern. We made some comparions between Native Ameicans and the Native Bush people of South Africa. We concluded the day by singing two camp songs as loud as possible! After school we came home, loaded the car and set off for a weekend in the Drakensburg Mountains.
Hillcrest, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa whitneyhl... a lovely gang -Mary, Drew, Rachel, Neasa and myself, which helps as you're in the middle of nowhere. We made our own fun. Word of warning though, the owner is a bit pervy and leery. Keep your distance there. Also everything here is run on tab so it is wise to keep a record of what you eat and drink yourself to be sure you're not overcharged - you loose track easily. Costs Per Person: Ampitheatre Lodge ~ 2 nights 25 euro Hike ~ 40 euro
Northern Drakensberg, South Africa francescahuntToday we headed towards the Drakensberg mountains and a luxury tented lodge to be shared with a family of baboons. This was wild 'luxury' camping at its best!! The following two days were to comprise of team football, walking in the mountains and a trip to the ...
Drakensberg Mountains, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa clarefun22My Safara was absolutely amazing. We saw 4 of the Big 5, minus the leopard which I could care less about. I saw the elephants and so my life is complete. We have a photo of 3 of the 5 together by one brook. Our guide asked us to send it to him because that's never happend. It was an Elephant bull, 2 white Rhinos and a lioness. Amazing. I'm glad I didn't get malaria or sunburn so I'd say my trip was an absolute success!
Kwazulu- Natal, South Africa cudiebug23... doubtful but laughing is more likely!) coz I think one of us would've been stupid enough last night to do a runner into the ocean - I don't even know whether there's still shark nets up to be honest!!!! Giggles, giggles and more giggles, so far - that's all we've done - not to mention talking the biggest load of **** under the sun but hey, what are holiday's for right? Tamsyn OUT!
Kwazulu Natal, South Africa tammyt... the zulu people live. Yes I am pretty much the only white person here! On Saturday the nieghbour is going to take me to see his bushcamp which has lots of natural game and then we will be having a brie (I think we might even shoot what we are eating!) Anyhow, thats about it for now, I am having an awesome time. And the good thing about starting work at 630am each day is you get to take a break to watch the sunrise!
Jo'burg, South Africa meganjohnHello:) Hope all is well. It has really been an emotional week for me. I left GGA on Friday for the last time and have been at a backpackers in Durban with friends all weekend. Hmmm, where do I start...Early this week, one of our babies in crech'e was removed from our care because his gogo (Zulu word for grandmother)wanted him to come back and live with her in the valleys. When he was only a few months old, he became very ill and she arranged for him to be brought to the ...
Durban, South Africa jaimegirl... Big 5" (Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Rhino, and Elephant)the first day-which is rare. After the Kruger experience, we drove south through Hluhlue and ended up on the coast at Anstey's Beach. We spent the remainder of the holiday relaxing on the shore, sipping on cocktails and watching all the hot surfers catching waves. Anyways-that is the 2nd half if my holiday in a nutshell. It was great driving up into GGA ...
Cato Ridge, South Africa jaimegirlTuesday morning found Castleburn closed in. Wrapped in low lying cloud, it was not really suitable for any early morning photo excursions. That did not deter Clint though, who was on it with rod and reel in the wee hours of the morning. Unfortunately the fish had other ideas and Clint had to be content in enjoying the early morning solitude and serenity as his only consolation. Later in the day we took a drive to lake Naverone. A rather impressive lake with multiple ...
