The weekend escape to Qatar

I am now on my third week in Mumbai and things are starting to get a bit more settled and I am finding myself being a bit more familiarised with what is happening in and around the city. The man taking us around was quite happy to poke leaves through the bars so the ostriches and emus would come to ...

So it took me almost 2 hours in the hot sun and 1/2 hour in the expensive store to find a solution for getting about town. I hope Salthar also knows how to go to the northern villages so I can see a bit of Qatar besides just Doha. And yes, I bought lots of water and a very high SPF sunscreen.

Adventures in Banking

... Q). Both were current A-level signing authorities and the minimum requirement for banking transaction approval is one A level and one B level signature. Unfortunately, due to the complexity of our relationship with U of C in Calgary, the bank required our VP of Finance to approve myself as a signatory. Not unreasonable but a bit of a pain because a faxed or scanned and emailed copy would not suffice. An original copy only was acceptable.

Officially a Resident

I don’t think Mr. M has the clout he thinks he has and he got one little guy (Mr. M is fairly tall) a wee bit angry at us when he blew him off as we passed by ignoring his calls to see my paperwork. I wanted to stop but Mr. M was having none of it. The little guy got a bigger guy (both in stature and rank) involved and I think Mr. M got his knuckles wrapped but after visits to several different offices we ...

Enroute from Berlin to Doha they showed a Simpsons episode which I tried to ignore but there was a scene where the Simpsons were watching cartoons on a TV. The question was this: shouldn't they have been watching live human TV shows? gotta go in the airport headed for my next Gate. departing for Mumbai in a few hours. just wanted to post something from Doha

Sand and sun... lots of both

... and AC on, etc.). Anyway, once the sun has set we went out into the city and we admired the spectacular Al Corniche, a promenade that goes along the bayshore for 7 km (5 miles). The view of the skyline from the sea level was indeed breathtaking. Then, we decided we would go to see the Doha Souk, have dinner there and browse the shops. Of course, this undertaking that was supposed to take 10 minutes, took us an hour due again to roads closed, poorly marked ...

Find out from a vet that it's moved, but too late to go there tonight anyway. Taxi back to hostel. Tea at café across the road, a crazy-go-nuts club sandwich that leaves all others for dead. Nick, another Aussie bloke, arrives at the hostel and is sharing same room.

Well yes we should have been better prepared but thats the break and we have to work out a solution, none of them looking desirable. Seth in pads or medical dressing just doesn't seem right. Don't expect that I will create entries as often has I have so far, it is only that we have been sitting in airports and it has served as a distraction for me (DWS did decide not to pay all of my ...
