Perfect place for a relaxing holiday

I was not disappointed with this hotel which had earned a lot of good reviews for its spa, great views and lovely suite rooms and villa. We spent time at the Rock Bar which the location was unique and atmosphere very nice. The service staff were happy and polite and greeted us everywhere they see us, in Balinese 5 star hotel standard. We tried the Spa and was deeply impressed with the setting and the details they took care to make our experience a very enjoyable one.
Overall we were very happy with our Suite Room which was exceptionally spacious and I wished our stay had been longer to enjoy it. We also visited our friend who stayed at the Villa and my!! The sunset view was simply stunning and the weather so lovely we didn't want to leave this place!

I'm sure this is a great place to come most times, but when we were offered a free upgrade to have our own villas we really did strike it lucky. The atmosphere is relaxing, the food is great and of course there is the Rock Bar to relax with a drink.

          Should be better

          from

Very pleasant staff with a very accomodating attitude. Gorgeous grounds, spa, and pool. Hotel services, though were second rate. Poor lighting, worn towels, slow maid service, and broken lounges at the pool are just a few deficiences noted.

We reserved a club floor room, which was just o.k., but the clubroom was set-up with tables and chairs for eating, not a place to relax with a book. The carpet was dirty.

Unlike other Ritz-Cartons, this resort is not for very discriminating guests. It's unfortunate that most of the staff blame the very low occupancy rate on the well publicized event of three years ago. The management is probably more responsible by not correcting problems obvious to any experienced traveller. An e mail to the general manager was not answered.

US$ 46.00 for breakfast per room?

you can rent a small villa in bali with that money....

nice hotel, but i prefer the le meridien

there you can have breakfast on a beauty lake with goldfish for free

and i found the rooms more comfortable

          What a wonderful paradise

          from

I spent 10 nights here with my new wife as the second part of our honeymoon. We were here November 2003. The Spa is fantastic. The food in the Japanese Restuarant was out of this world. I would also suggest that instead of going on a set tour, just hire a taxi driver for the day. This will cost you around 50, but is well worth it.

The food on the Jimbaran seafront is fabulous and at around 15pp it is the cheapest lobster I have ever had. Enjoy.

          Not worth the $$

          from

We stayed in one of the club rooms and on the whole this is just another hotel. Not worth the price, food quality, service and ambience, you wouldn't know you were in Bali, feels more like a beach hotel catering to a strong Japanese customer base: managing director's wife is Japanese. Other than Nasi Goreng (main island favorite - no other Balinese menu). Lobby has the usual musicians but you could be anywhere. The hotel has nothing remarkable to note, the service at time is downright surly at times. The Spa, is set up in an awkward manner. ANY one can walk into the treatment area, so you can be there with a dozen passer bys that happened to wander there, little kids love being there in the spa area because of monkey see statues. The private bath in the spa room had both mildew and grime on the rim. The Aquatronics (what the heck is that?!) is just an adult bathing pool, frequented by lonely old Japanese men with their girlfriends or looking for someone. The service at the spa from greeting (what greeting? Not even tea... I was there when a man complained with his male lover that he had his overhanged toenail cut too far - really didn't need to hear that), and the massage and facial I tried, both very disappointing. Unless you really need to go to a Ritz, try another hotel in Bali.

          Beautiful Resort

          from

Started out our honeymoon at the Ritz. I wanted a large, safe resort to start out our holiday on the other side of the world and the Ritz certainly fit the bill. The common areas are fantastic. The 2 level infinity pool is incredible. We stayed in an ocean front room. Marble floors, separate marble shower, almost exactly the room layout as other Ritz properties I have stayed at. The dining choices were many, from ocean front dining to a great Thai restaurant. The clientele is mostly from Asia and Australia. The staff in very unobtrusive. This is for people that want to visit a foriegn country but still feel like they have the comforts of home. The knock on this place is it is really not a value compared to the rest of Bali. While you are paying $25US for breakfast, $4US for a local beer, $80US for a massage and $25US for a T-shirt, perfectly in line for Hawaii or other US destinations, it is twice as much as what you would expect to pay anywhere else in Bali. But, hey! you don't stay at a Ritz for value! Still a great 5 star facility, a little remote, a little over-priced, but, I would still recomend to a more gentle, unadventurous traveler.

          Simply the best!!

          from

The Ritz-Carlton Bali is an amazing destination. My wife and I have stayed at this Ritz-Carlton three times. Each visit is a pleasure. I highly recommend upgrading your room to the Club Level. The rooms are slightly larger and the Club has a delightful presentation of food throughout the day. The pool is simply splendid! The service throughout the property is what one would expect at a premium resort. The Ritz-Carlton Bali is highly recommended!

          Fantastic facilities and excellent service

          from

My wife and i stayed at at the RItz Bali in September 2002 and thought that the hotel was impeccable. Despite having a basic ground floor room - the amenities in the room were luxurious and there was nothing to complain about. The food was incredible - thoroughly enjoyed eating their incredible prawns at the restaurant located on the beach!

You felt like you were being waited on without all the fuss. Whilst wading in the pool, waitors bring you melon, drinks etc... Sunsets are amazing. Only 1 fault - cheapest wine worth drinking is well over GBP 50 - so stuck to tropical cocktails or beer. Would definitely go back - Bali is incredible and there is still so much to see..

          Wonderful hotel and grounds...

          from

Even though the hotel is rated 5*, our expectations were still exceeded at this wonderful hotel.

Service: Excellent - the staff are all very attentive.

          Hotel: Wonderfully exotic

Grounds: Superb - expecially in the evening and at sunset.

Pool: Great setting, great service. You must try champagne in the pool at sunset.

Restaurants: We ate at the newly opened Thai Restaurant. The prices, were reasonable for a 5* hotel, and the food excellent.

Spa & Gym: Excellent and well equiped.

Location: A little bit 'cut off' from the rest of the world but it's <$1 to Jimbaran Bay where you can try wonderful seafood on the beach.

          Perfect place for a honeymoon

          from

My wife and I started our honeymoon trip to Bali at the Ritz. It was a great start. The hotel is amazing, the views, the service, the location are all amazing. We stayed on concierge level and the morning, breakfast, afternoon teas and the evening appetizers were great. The balinese are very polite and accomodating. Bali is a beautiful destination.

lovely wellcome, wonderful lobby, the most beautyful toilets you wish to go back just to appreciate the athmosphere ( :) ))

we had an 1 bedroom oceanfront villa with a breathtaking view, a plunge pool, and a little private garden with lilly pound

the result even exceed what we excpected

the club lounge was also great with a taste of simple luxury

... to ask whether we were seeing them the next day. On the Sunday we decided to go to a couple of attractions local to Ubud with Agung and Icha; the elephant caves and the holy water temple. We stopped off for lunch before saying our goodbyes. Monday was our last day in Ubud, we got a hour massage for about £5 and made the most of our new favourite restaurant Clear Cafe (anyone visiting ubud must go) before packing as we were getting picked up at 7am to travel to the Gili ...

My diligently set 5am alarm as usual didn't account for 'Indonesia pace' which generally mean that aside from the Muezzin (Muslim priest...prayers around 4am) and his followers, no one was awake yet. Certainly no major hustle to leave the base on time. Banana pancakes all round, tea coffee. And a magnificent sunrise as Rinjani came into view.

After starting up the hill around 6.30am, our day consisted of a solid 7 ...
