Annual visit to Palm Desert, CA. Our 8th or 9th trip. The last 3 have been two week trips. After a 2 1/2 hour ride we arrived at Shadow Ridge for our two week stay. We were given our first choice of accommodations. Top floor building 2700 with a view of the 16th hole. We ate dinner at SiBon's a favorite restaurant we discovered last year. Checking in proved to be more tricky.
Sweet Drew with the delicious dimples on reception smiled sweetly and told me that our room was unfortunately not quite ready but he hoped it would be ready by 5pm.
The two complimentary drinks vouchers went someway to appease things, so we sat in the reception area and downed two beers.
5pm came and went, Drew flashed the dimples again and ...
... in the world. We travelled up 8500 feet to where its about 30 degrees cooler, which was reason enough itself to do it. There are four or five supports that hold the whole thing up (thankfully) and the cable car rocks each time it goes over the struts... not for the faint-hearted.
