... got to the little tiny creek 25 miles away. I laid there and talked a bit with some other hikers in the shade of a big tree. 10 feet away from us a rattlesnake slithered by into the bushes. We all just watched it go by. Its really cool to be around other people who can respect nature without being scared of it. It's crazy how close I'm getting to the high Sierra. 500 miles in!!!!! On our way from Yosemite to Lake Mead, we traveled south in California to avoid many of the mountain roads. We stopped for the day in Tehachapi and camped at the Brite Lake Regional Park Campground. It was an interesting little campground with a total of 3 campers at it the night that we were there.

Here are the pictures from our day of travel.

... hand in front of our face, plus the road is so windy and there were really big drops either side of us. Mark is an excellent driver but even he was a bit nervous driving through that fog. Next stop, Bakersfield and our final stop for the day. We arrived at our hotel for the night at about 7pm. The first thing we spotted on the approach to the hotel was a drive thru Starbucks so we had to go and have a cup of tea before getting a well earned ...
