After that,we went into the town of Wisconsin Dells. The city takes its name from the French word "dalles" which means narrows and refers to the way the Wisconsin River flows through the narrow gorges in this area. The Dells are scenic, glacially formed gorges that feature ...

Definitely one of those evenings you wish would never end...socializing, relaxing, and laughing with friends while on the road is such a pick-me-up. Thank you!
It was raining on the way with lots of grey skies, but the ran stopped for a few pictures.

We drove on desolate roads for about 16 miles with the GPS consistently reporting several more miles to go than the distance-to-empty meter said we had!! For at least the last 3 miles the car said we had 0 miles left till empty. We truly coasted down hills to save ...
It all started with Aimee saying to Bruce, "sorry, I must not have heard you right. I thought you just said you wanted to go to a SPAM museum". Sadly, she had heard him correctly! Who has ever heard of the Spam Museum? Who would even want to go to the Spam museum? Bruce did and it didn't take him long to get the kids on board too. Our kids, who have never even tasted Spam! Come to think of it, Aimee's never had Spam either! The reviews did look ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Caribbean Club Resort Wisconsin Dells
The Caribbean Club Resort was a mixed bag. The resort itself is wonderful...right by the lake with a nice little beach, nice pool for kids and adults, decks, picnic areas, bbq's etc. However our rooms were not that great and the staff was not very receptive. We booked 2- 2BR condos for ourselves (+ 2 toddlers) and my parents. Both condo's were clean and tastefully decorated however they really needed some maintenance. In one condo (my parent's) the refrigerator and air conditioning weren't working and maintenance was unable to repair it. After many phone calls and visits to the front desk, we were told (after 2 days of maintenance trying to fix it) that they would have to call someone in and that it wouldn't get fixed until Friday (the last day we were there). My parents spent 2 days without these appliances and then had to repack and move to another condo (that wasn't right by ours as we initially planned). In our condo, the dryer and microwave weren't working properly. After many calls and visits to the front desk, we never got them fixed, and just stopped inquiring about them. We were tired of it at that point and didn't feel like packing up ourselves and 2 toddlers and moving to another condo. Also, as one other reviewer mentioned, the beds weren't all that comfortable...very squeaky and bumpy.
A great place but...
The Caribbean Clube proved to be a wonderful place. The washer and dryer were great amanities the rooms were as clean as could be, the atmosphere excellent. The decks and patios were awesome. The only probelm we encountered was the fact that the bed was somewhat uncomfortable and it squeaked extremely bad and all you had to do was sit down on it. So, so much for romance. We would stay there again but hopefully in another room.
My 5 year old and I spent spring break at the Caribbean Club. We swam everyday in the warm indoor pool which was well maintained and very clean. I loved the hot tub. Our room was tastefully decorated and also clean. We had everything we needed to make ourselves at home for the week; full stove, full size refridgerator, dish washer, and microwave.
Where do I start? Upon arrival we had to walk from the main road in snow up to our calves to the office. Once we checked in, the parking lot where our condo was located was partially plowed. When we arrived to our assigned condo the snow was not shoveled and we immediately called the front desk and waited a 1/2 hr. and called back and was told her employees did not show up and she was the only one working (general manager). We preceeded to shovel our way from the car up the stairs, to the front door with a shoveled that was stuck in the snow about (3) condos down. I had a toddler and it was not a pretty picture. Towels are not the best. Indoor pool did not look very clean. The hot tub near the pool had plastic on the walls and the ceiling (under construction yet was open) and water was dripping. Jets did not work! The woman at the front desk was not very friendly and obviously had not planned to be there long.(new job) We had several people with us in other condos with worst complaints but they can tell their own story. I've been here at least (6) times and you could diefinitely see there is new management. I would have rated it 'Terrible' but my condo was decent even though the T.V. in the living room was small and very limited utensils in the kitchen and the garbage disposal did not work. Their was no dishwasher. By the way, the parking lot was eventually plowed. We all knew the snow was comin! Next time when you know you have a full house, prepare for them. (it snowed the night before) I didn't get paid for shoveling!!
Get away to a place without the kids
In the Dells, for an adult "get away" go in the colder months when the families aren't there. You practically have the town to yourselves. The Caribbean Club was great - we had a 1-bedroom lakeview suite with fireplace and large hot tub for under $100 a night. It was very nice - there were two TVs and a full kitchen, but plenty of pizza places in the area that deliver. An indoor heated pool. It was exactly what we were looking for - a weekend to ourselves without having to share it with hundreds of children.
A Real Get Away From It All Place
My family has vacationed at the Caribbean Club many times, in all 4 seasons. It is really hard to go back to a tiny hotel room after you've had all the amenities of essentially a full apartment to use. We find it odd that towels were a complaint by one user. The current towels are second to none. However, you can't expect the same quality towels available in the pool area - people would steal them by the armloads because they are not inventoried like the room ones are. Save not just money on eating in the fully equipped kitchen, but also time wasted waiting for service at a restaurant. There are 1, 2, and 3 bedroom sizes to fit all budgets and family sizes. And when you do want the noise and congestion of the rest of the attractions, they start less than a mile away.
A great place for a traditional family vacation
We stayed at the Caribbean Club last summer. It was excellent!. The place is located on the lake and charges reasonable rents. While we did not get a lakeside unit (which are really nice), our unit had a great view of the lake and the pools from the balcony. The kids really enjoyed fishing off the dock, swimming in the lake, and playing on the beach. We have stayed at the big water park places before and they are fun. However, unlike those big water park places, this place offers a more traditional family vacation. You can request a suite by number, our was 508. We will be up there again next year.
We've stayed at the CC a number of times and I believe that it represents quite a value. The towels are not as thick as a Hyatt or Hilton, but ours were not like sandpaper...They were just towels. The rooms were clean. The staff was always very accomodating. The grounds are well kept and the pools were clean. The indoor pool was rather bland, but we were gone most of the time anyway. I actually like it more in the off season, like winter, because of the great size of the master bedroom, the hot tub, and the fireplace (fireplace in the living room to). We use it then without the kids and it's great..... The rooms and the facility are exactly like the pictures on the web site.....and having a nice clean kitchen (with a full size fridge) really comes in handy when the kids are with us. Only down side was the electrical outlets were always loose when we tried to plug stuff in..We got over it. I rated it above averate but I meant Very Good. I reserve the Excellent rating for Places like Grand Lido and Hedonism. I'd go again any time.
We wanted a Romantic Getaway
What we got was a complete diappointment. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed we have ever slept on. The bath towels were like sand paper. Everything was old and unappealing. My husband had to go room to room wiping the dead bugs from the walls. If I have to say something positive, I can tell you that the lake view was beautiful, however, a good view shouldn't cost what we had to pay for it.
Best Place to Stay in the Dells Area
My family has been coming to this resort for the past 5 years. It is a hidden treasure. You have the beauty of nature with Lake Delton and the convience of being minutes away from the activities of the Dells. We like that fact that all the condos have a full kitchen and washer and dryer. It saves our family lots of money because we don't have to eat all our meals out. Many nights we grill out on the decks. The pool and grounds are beautiful. We also like the fact that we can bring our boat with on vacation. We would highly recommend to all. A+.
