The Good, The Bad and the Tugly

THE GOOD:
On the last full day on the island of Zamami we rented kayaks and an obligatory guide to paddle around some islands , stopping to have lunch and snorkel in a couple of places.
It was a far tamer day than we had imagined but still enjoyable. Our guide , K., was a novice guide and was reluctant to let us snorkel without a lifejacket on. Such a joke!! The water here is so buoyant that the day before I had needed 3 lead ...
Sayonara, Japan!
... He will return to the US in a few months, so that makes it a bit easier to say good-bye. It was precious time together this week. Now we are in the room trying to get everything bag into our allotted luggage. Tomorrow morning, it is off to Naha to drop off our little Japanese car and get to the airport. We will fly to Seoul where we will have a three-hour layover. Then, we are on to Beijing to see Shekar’s cousins. ...

... He took me out to dinner for my birthday. We went to the American Village and ate at Tony Roma’s. The food was wonderful, and it was a treat to have both of my guys with me for a birthday dinner. ... of English - tried so hard to help. He finally drew us a map with landmarks drawn in. (He realized street names are not helpful to us as we can't read.) We were relieved to see our hotel. We ate some nuts we had in our suitcase and were soon sound asleep. Monday will be a quiet day of study and rest. We flunk at Japanese
... It is simple but clean and comfortable. Last night, I discovered - to my delight - that their tubs are about 2.5 feet deep with lots of hot water available. After four days of travel, it felt so good to soak and get clean. (Excuse my rudeness, but I am going to include some pictures of the bathroom in our room. It is just fun.)
