Had A Great Time
Well, we just got back from a week at the Club Internacional (also known as VCI). We were there from 5-12 June 2004. The resort is beautiful, has a fair-sized swimming pool with an in-pool bar, very nice units, and a courteous and helpful staff. We enjoyed the parasailing, the jet skis, the snorkelling, the swim with the dolphins, and the shows (most of these can be reserved through the resort). I suggest you exchange your home currency for Mexican pesos. While were were there the rate of excahnge was 11.20 pesos to one American dollar, however merchants sell at 10 pesos to the dollar, so you are better off paying in pesos. The front desk or any bank will exchange your money for you at the best rates. I have only one criticism of Cancun, and it has nothing to do with Club Internacional. When you first arrive at the airport, you will go through immigration. As soon as you clear immigration, you will be approached by people wearing uniforms which read "Tourism Service", giving you the false impression they are Mexican officials. They are not. They are there to offer you some of the excursions at half-price, if you will agree to listen to what they say is an hour and a half presentation for vacation timeshares and deposit the $50 half-price with them as a good faith deposit that you will attend the presentation. The half-price off on an excursion is a "hook" to get you to attend a high-pressure sales pitch for one of these timeshares, and although they promise it will be only an hour and a half, more often then not, it's four hours of your vacation time. (The same holds true for Orlando). Now, you've just arrived there and gotten off the plane, you're tired, and if you're like me, you already own a timeshare or aren't interested in any timeshare, so just tell him or her you aren't interested and keep walking to the taxis. For those people who get "hooked" this way, Club Internacional reimburses you back the $50 off your resort bill. But forewarned is forearmed. Otherwise, the whole place is beautiful, and we enjoyed fantastic weather. I recommend the Dolphin swim, where you actually get to swim with the dolphins. Also, the Mexican dinner show at the Bandstand, and the Jungle Tour. All of these can be booked through the resorts. You can rent/negotiate a jetski on the beach at about $45 for a half-hour, and parasailing at the same rate for 15 minutes (15 minutes doesn't sound like much, but it's plenty). The beach could use some work, rocky edges, stones and pebbles need to be cleared, but the beach belongs to the Mexican federal government, not the hotels. Otherwise, the water is clear and not deep at all. Lots of restaurants (Mexican, Italian, Argentine, Chinese, also Subway, McDonald's, Burger King, Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville, Domino's Pizza, etc.). Food for just about every taste. Fun in the sun by day, and wining and dining at night. We will be back!
A Solid Quality place to stay
This was a family time share that we inheirited upon my grandfather's passing. We stayed here last in May of 2002. Although this is an older resort in Cancun (one of the very first built) it has been well maintained and managed through the years. The staff is excellent and the grounds are immaculate. Room cleaning is second to none. The on site resturaunt is good and convieniant however, it cannot compare to the many resturaunts that Cancun has to offer. The pool has a swim up bar which is cool. This resort is really better suited for families with children and older folks 55+. We are in our mid 30's and did not really fit in with the majority of people there. However, it really did not detract from our vacation at all. Honestly, if you end up staying here you will be quite pleased with Club International.
Great place to unwind
We stayed at the Club International for 2 weeks in September 2003 and would recomend it to anyone. We were unfortunate in that the 'Second' pool was shut for refurbishment during our stay but the main pool was more than adequate. The choice and standard of food was excellent throughout our stay and prices were as good if not better than local restruants and bars. Happy hour made prices better still. One word of warning is that you have to sign for everything (No cash changes hand) that you want and can tend to loose track of what you've spent. The location is excellent in that it is near enough to the madcap centre of the hotel zone if you wish to sample it but far enough away for it not to bother you. Looked at the other 'Royal Resorts' but these seemed too big and impersonal. Staff were absolutely fantastic throughout. If you have a choice go there.
A Place to Relax with Grandma, Grandpa and the Kids
My wife and I (age 31 and 32) stayed here for our Honey Moon. This wasn't my first choice but it was a gift from her uncle's time share and after spending all that $$$ on our wedding, it was a deal. This was our first experience with time shares. We have stayed in hotels/resorts such as Sheraton Hacienda del Mar (Cabo), Brisas Las Hadas Golf Resort and Marina (Manzanillo), El cid (Mazatlan) Hilton Waikoloa Village (Hawaii), The Ritz Carlton (Rancho Mirage), Casa Cody B&B (Palm Springs). I'd recommend the Sheraton (try the Mango Maragaritas at the resort restaurant located at the point and the only sushi house in downtown, yum) and Las Hadas. Listen all, this place is not for the young who want to party, party, party and dance the night away; it's not even for those people who party, party or even party! It goes dead before 9:00 pm. It's a family type setting with sleeping arrangements.
If you have kids and want to save $$$ this is the ideal place. Take a bus dowtown and hit Walmart, Yes, "Walmart". Stock up the kitchen and cook. The kitchen includes everything you need. The rooms are nice and clean with a excellent AC unit and ceiling fan. The site is also clean and the service is good. The pool is small, but then again the hotel is small. The hotel store typical. The food at the resaurant is OK. No flavor to it. You can do better elsewhere. We ate Italian food at La Maddona (la Isla), it was the best Italian Restaurant I've been, it's kind of expensive so take $$$$. CI tries to sell you time share 24/7 but we didn't bite. We bought vacation weeks through the Palace Resorts all inclusive (paid $11,000 for 32 weeks plus 4 rt airfare). overall the place was good. Since we don't have kids, it's not our thing yet!
Take the bus, it saves you money, besides there is only one strip!
CI Exceeded expectations
This was our first timeshare exchange. (I wonder what our own place looks like?) Anyway, Interval International directed my family of five to this one of five Royal Resorts. We had a wonderful time. My ten year old son especially wants to go back there. The surf is very calm, maybe too calm and the snorkling is bland. The northern bar/pool is great for the kids and the adult only south bar/pool is nice for adults. At forty-something, we were youngsters. Most other kids were there with grandparents. It is safe and quite and the timeshare owners on the week we went were all characters from a novel. Our two floor two bedroom unit was massively spacious and the entire place was in perfect condition for being nearly 30 years old. There is virtually no nightlife on site, which doesn't matter because everything hot is only a $7 cab ride away. We did the tourist thing and took a bus to Sam's Club to stock up the full kitchen. The staff was very attentive and tolerates US attitudes (better than I do). The entire region is geared towards the US traveller at any age. The crowd is very diverse. The college kids at places like Carlos & Charlies were wild as expected and may kids saw nothing that is not already on prime time TV (or just another Saturday nite at my house). Many of the senior citizens reminded me of the Judge Smales character Ted Knight played in Caddy Shack. There are kids activities that my three (14, 10, 7) actually enjoyed doing. The resort cedes back to the Mexican government in about five years, so it may get leveled. Go now because soon, it literally may be gone. The other Royal Resorts are also nice, the newest being the best.
OLA - Club International of Cancun - OLA
My family of five visited Cancun in May, 2003. We had a beautiful time. We stayed at the Club International of Cancun (where we had two levels which included two bedrooms with balconies, two baths, living room (with balcony), kitchen, etc. surrounded by water - and all I can say is it was magnificent. Cancun's beaches are beautiful and the water is so clean and clear. The nightlife is fun and there is plenty of shopping. We did the tour to Isla Mujures (Isle of Ladies), it was very interesting. Of course, I enjoyed the shopping. We had no complaints regarding Cancun. I have travelled to many places and Cancun turned out to be my favorite. I cannot wait to get back. Again, OLA! I LOVE CANCUN
The BEST, The BEST, The BEST. Sort of like location, location, location. Many of the staff have been with VCI for a long time and I think that is the reasons it is the BEST place to stay. No matter what area you thing of from the good to having some trouble with whatever the staff is the BEST. Clean, beautiful, quite, and I could go on and on. I just think it is the BEST.
Serene and beautiful
In the past eight years I have been to Club International many times. I now own one of the B units that accomodate four or five very nicely. I do not care for the high rise hotels that remind me of being in New York. My condo is an end unit on the 2nd of three floors facing the ocean. I love the serenity and quietness of all the accommodations.
There are beautiful passage ways leading from one part of the accommodations to another. The swim-up bar is connected to the outdoor restaurant where you can view the ocean while eating. The people who work there are extremely polite and every need is met. There are two beautiful pools and at the beginning of the stay, a staff member gives a talk on all the things to do in Cancun which is more than enough.
Club International provides transporation to sister hotels where I like to visit different beaches and restaurants. This place is wonderful.
The accommodations and staff were FABULOUS! The other guests were also wonderful. They are very particular about their clientelle, so that was refreshing as we were visiting at the same time as many high-school senior trips (they called it the Invasion). We had the 2 bedroom 1 bath (Unit B), which accommodates 4 rather nicely. The bar and restaurant were okay with decent pricing. The grocery store was reasonably priced and carried a wide selection of food and personal items. The beach was my only disappointment. You are confined to a certain area due to the embarcadero nearby and the ocean floor is covered with seaweed only 25-50 feet out and small rocks near the shore. The two pools, however, were very inviting. I would highly recommend it.
Like a Mexican Village
We have been to Club International in Cancun three times during the last 7 years or so. We had no idea what we were getting the first time we went because the place we thought we were staying canceled on us at the last minute. We drove up the drive at Club International and all breathed a collective sigh of relief. Then amazement at the beauty of these accomodations. It is not located in the "Hotel Zone," which was great for us since we prefer the "village" surroundings to the high rises. There are only 3 floors in these condominium units so you feel at home. The people are absolutely fantastic. Eveyone is there to make sure you have what you want. The pools and swim-up bar were great. The bar is adjacent to the outdoor restaurant which sits right on the beach overlooking the Caribbean. What could be better? Food was great also. They have several themed nights during the week. We stayed in the two bedroom condo. One bedroom is upstairs and one down. They both have a full bathroom. Kitchen is well equipped with full refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, dishwasher. There is an ample table and chairs for eating. Each room has a balcony. All I can say is: GO!

... drinks, so there was supposed to be an open bar from 22.00 until 3.00. Since the cheapest place there was charging USD 25 for “all you can drink” there was a difference in the amount of USD 50 between the worst place on the beach of Cancun and Coco Bongo. However, Coco Bongo also offered a show comparable to those ones in Las Vegas (in Vegas they charge USD 70 and more) from 23.00 until 3.00. Last but not least they were ready to provide us with free drinks ...
... three hours left. Sketchers spanned the place drawing from every angle. In different styles. A community of people sharing an experience I felt privileged to be part of. I drew until my fingers froze, it being June in buenos aires as the sun went down. Silvina had explained that at 5pm everyone gathered and displayed their work for others to see. When if came down to exhibiting I was pensive, feeling a bit self conscious but then I thought, no one knows me and it ...
... quick enough and check into the Moon Palace. Again, 3 years prior I had stayed here with the boys. This time though I didn’t have to share a bed with Pat.
The Moon Palace was something else. At a touch over $400/night we needed to make the most of it and by God we gave it our best crack.
... br> The boys arrived and it was honestly like nothing had changed. Brad had put on a lot of weight but that was about it. He still talked the same amount of absolute ****. It was awesome and we were all pumped.
"18 shots of tequila please'’ Jesus Christ. After a few beers we thought it was a great idea to play a round of mini golf with the loser on each hole having to have a shot.

... We visited other hotels in the area, like Oasis and ME Cancun! We had a delicious lunch @ The Beach House restaurant located at ME. The food & service were superb!!
There is a lot of shopping to be done in Cancun as well! Luckily, the Hyatt was located right around the corner from everything ...
