          My birthday in Cairns

I awoke to birthday text messages from all the family and whilst I took a shower, Andy went to the post office to buy envelopes and sellotape for sending stuff home. We had breakfast on the balcony and packed the envelopes with leaflets and goodies we'd been collecting as they would be too bulky to carry around the entire continent.

We arrived at 10.30 and walked …

We awoke to a very hot and sunny morning and were told the trip to Stanley Chasm had sadly been cancelled as there weren't enough punters. We decided to have breakfast in the hotel and hang around Alice. Vegemite is not a patch on marmite!

We ambled into town with Jack and Josie as we had heard that the Ghan train from Darwin to Adelaide …
