Bali-Ubud day 2

Bali day 2 We sleep semi okay the first night-we left the sliding doors open so we could hear the night time nature sounds but for some reason it is makes me so excited I don't sleep well-Doug's reason is that there is just too many sounds. We go down to breakfast (included in our stay) and sit under the veranda next to the pool. There is something so special to me about eating breakfast in the tropics-it's this sense of calmness-the smell of coffee, food, flowers, fields, the sounds of bird...

Historical Traveler Reviews of Tepi Sawah Villas And Spa Ubud

Wonderful little hotel

from Yank-In-Sing
I am pleased to see that since we stayed in Tepi Sawah 2 months ago, it has really climbed up the Trip Advisor ratings. It deserves the praise. This place was great. I stayed there for 4 days with my mother and we both loved it. For about $100 USD we booked a villa which was stunning, especially considering the price. Lovely high ceilings, bed with mosquito netting, unusually pretty bathroom, and a large balcony overlooking the property and adjoining rice paddies were just some of the features. At night we enjoyed the sounds of musical frogs in the paddies and the slightly shriller resident geckos. It would have been a very romantic stay had I not been there with my mother.

The staff, as mentioned in other reviews, were wonderful. We came out of the room late one day (about 10am) and a staff member was unobtrusively waiting near the foot of our stairs to run up and clean the room. The room was spotless, being cleaned twice a day. The hotel is outside of town but the free shuttle was always available. Also they pick you up from the airport for free, which is rare in Ubud.

In all, I really enjoyed this place and would definitely stay there again if I return to Ubud.

Can't go wrong if you stay here

The other reviewers have it right:

Fantastic, obliging staff

Gorgeous surroundings

Quiet

Lovely rooms

Free shuttle into town

Great value for the money

What's not to like? You will feel special at Tepi Sawah, and when you return from Ubud or wherever the day has taken you, you'll feel that you're in your own private, welcoming village. I'd definitely stay there again.

Great small hotel, great staff, a pleasure to be there

from toucantango2
This a wonderful small hotel located just outside the main town centre of Ubud. The service staff, in particular Made Karde, are really very good and will help to arrange almost anything for you. The hotel offers a free delivery and pickup service from the hotel to the town centre (about a 10 minute ride) anytime up to 10:00 p.m. The rooms are very spacious and a number of the second floor rooms have a lovely view over the rice paddi. The king size beds are very comfortable with lots of pillows. The lamps, however, could all use bigger bulbs. There is a very nice pool which is not heated offering a refreshing dip after a hard day of shopping, sightseeing or hiking. The only small nit for us is that the included breakfast could have provided a few more interesting items. If you are not a big ham/sausage/egg eater, then you are limited to fruit and some rather unusual croissants or white toast. The fruit plate, however, is fantastic. For us, the true test of a review is whether or not the reviewer would book again and yes, unequivocally we will stay with them again on our next trip to Bali.

Great stay, great service

from AmsterdamStephan
In June, we stayed in the wonderful Peliatan villa for 4 nights. The villa was excellently designed in bali-style - we particularly loved the open air bathroom. Breakfast was served on the little terrace outside the villa with great rice paddy views. The restaurant is crowded for lunch as many organised tours combine it with a visit to the extensive art gallery adjacent to the villa complex. For dinner, the restaurant is not very busy but that doesn't compromise the excellent quality of the food. The villas are outside the immediate proximity to (busy) Ubud city center but the (free) shuttle service offered (until 22.00) turns that more into an advantage than a disadvantage. Shuttle drivers also had not problem in picking you up later than 22.00. Drive to Ubud centre is around 7 minutes. So, great service all-around. Special thanks to Karda and others of the front desk for useful tips and being generally helpful. We'd recommend this place to everybody looking for a high standing, good value place, a bit more intimate and quiet than Ubud centre.

Great bijou hotel

In this price bracket - we liked it so much we came back at teh end of our holiday. Fantastically freindly staff. Beautiful hotel just outside Ubud overlooking padi feilds, great rooms. We check out Bali Spirit while we were there and didn;t like it nearly as much. Try teh Nasi Goreng for breakfast - it is delicious.

My best staying with Tepi Sawah Villas

from ArdhaBagus
This is like our second house in Bali, where everything allready arranged with well trained staff .

Most of the building are two storey and and each room interior totally different where some of them are traditional and some of them very modern.

There are 12 rooms in total and the amenities just like a five star resort with cable TV, IDD, Free internet (WI FI) but for their in house guest only, So don't forget to bring your own laptop.

The Gallery that called Nyoman Sumerta Fine Art Gallery display thousands of painting and wood carving collection. But please note that the price is very expensive as their collection are fine art.

The restaurant also ofer a very delicious Crispy Duck and Pork Ribs wich always full for lunch. So always remeber to reserve your seat before, but do not need to reserve for dinner.

Not like other hotel, I can feel the spirit, the environment especially with their swimming pool and the tropical landscape garden. all well maintain and so clean where flowers are everywhere and every corner there is art.

I promise to come back again and waiting to see them all again

Really relaxing and magical time at Tepi Sawah

from eletsar
My husband and I stayed 3 nights at the hotel. The hotel is not in the central Ubud area but the staff will gladly offer to drop you off anywhere in the main Ubud area and pick you up when you're done. We were really happy with the staff, they were warm, approachable and helpful, nothing was too much to ask. The hotel really exceeded our expectations, it was so peaceful there, the gardens were well-kept and especially pretty in the early mornings. The pool was inviting, with a bale, deck chairs and even a garden swing. Checking in and out were smooth.

We borrowed a dvd player to watch the cheap dvds we bought in Kuta as the tv channels were limited. We asked to have breakfast at our balcony and were glad we did as it was really tranquil. My husband and I will miss watching the ducks and buffaloes in the rice fields in the mornings.

Our room had a tiny but bright study overlooking the pool which I turned into a walk-in wardrobe, a cosy sitting area, a king bed with a fresh-looking, clean mosquito net, a dressing area, a really bright, clean spacious bathroom with a stone bath tub/shower and brand new fittings and the sunny balcony where we had our daily breakfast and afternoon tea. I was really happy with how clean and spotless everything in our room was as I'm quite a clean freak.

I'd recommend the mi goreng for breakfast, didn't find the other options as tasty.

We regretted having only one dinner at the Tepi Sawah restaurant. We normally avoid hotel restaurants and eat out but this time, we found out too late on our last night that the food was good and prices were very reasonable. The service was really warm and helpful as always, our waiters anticipated our requests and brought mosquito coils for our use without my even asking. The service was efficient and never intrusive. We ate at the highest floor, a private bale area overlooking the rice fields, really loved it for the peace and wonderful views.

When we checked in, we asked the reception if we could have a look at the Batuan, Taman, Padang rooms. We liked the Padang room best. The Batuan rooms on the upper floor had full on rice field views and were smaller but they still had a sitting area, dressing area, king bed, smaller bathroom with smaller tub with a window that opened out to the rice fields and a balcony. The Taman rooms were exactly the same as the Padang rooms, just that they were on the ground floor with a private garden and patio instead of a balcony.

We've stayed at Tegal Sari, Alila Ubud, Ulun and Tunjung Mas on previous trips but this is the first place where we felt like we wanted to write a review. We would definitely come back here for our next visit.

Looking forward to next visit

I have stayed at Tepi Sawah probably 4 or 5 times and each stay is a delight. The property is well located looking over the paddy fields and very quiet and relaxing. Staff are very friendly and helpful. They will transport you around Ubud and beyond in comfort and safety. Rooms are simply decorated and there is an excellent attention to detail evident through out the property. Breakfast is taken outdoors overlooking the delightful pool area. Certainly well worth another visit!

Tepi sawah our best kept secret

from tonysxm
My wife and I have just returned from our second trip to Ubud. Like many foreigners in the area, we spent our days loading up containers of furniture, rattan and other artifacts for export. But unlike everyone - we were able to retire to one of the most enchanted locations on earth.

Tepi Sawah, not only rejuvenates the mind, but rekindles the creative spirits. Each morning, we savored our coffee while overlooking the sumptuous gardens, water statues and tiled pool. Our evenings were filled with spectacular foods (watch out for the hot sauces - they are addictive), inexpensive drinks and delightful conversations. Our "in-between" time was spent admiring the fantastic collection of the Fine Art Gallery.

We reserved our favorite room (the Ubud) because of its large space (key when you are buying merchandise to return with) and its enormous bathroom. As always the housekeeping service was impeccable, twice a day the room was cleaned and polished. New linens, towels, flowers and clean laundry are the standard - not the exception.

The staffs of both the hotel and restaurants have to be on a par with the most prestigious five star hotels in the world. Nothing is overlooked - there may be some confusion due to language problems - but all matters are quickly settled. Further, the owner Mr. Sumertha, is training the next generation through apprenticeships with middle schools. The hotel has wonderful and careful drivers, who can be used for any and all outings. At meals, we always invited someone to sit with us to learn more about their Bali. (They benefitted through practising their English). Careful, Balinese people can quickly become your family :)

Bali, is trying hard to rid its self from the reputation garnered from the two bombings. Tepi Sawah is not on the coast where the tourist go and more importantly has full time staffs that work around the clock. Outside of the odd frog or bat no one was ever on the property unless they were supposed to be.

To be fair we do have to mention two negatives - there is only one English channel on the televisions - Cinemax and night and Cnn in the morning. Second, there is no wireless internet - but the office will let you check email etc at any time.

See you next year...
