    ... for 30 minutes, the taxi driver finally arrived. Even thought the bus was only departing at 9am the hostel insisted to leave early, because of all the protests and traffic around Bangkok early morning. En route, the taxi driver tried taking the normal route to the bus station and tried pocketing 50 baht for the express toll road route, but unfortunately for him the roads were far too busy, so he had to turn around back to Khao San Road to join the express route from there. ...

    ... Butterflies (all sizes and lots of them) Giant Hornbill Deer Waran Aisan Black Bear (maybe) Bats (4-6 cm, millions) Asian Elephant (yeahh!!! Maximum est elephans!)     ... was a plane to Phnom Penh. This offered a short commute via familiar means, followed by a streamlined visa process. Naturally, the three of us had deemed this possibility too boring, opting instead to wake up at 4:45 and spend most of the day traveling by train, tuk-tuk, and whatever we could find to get us from Poipet (a Cambodian border town) to our destination of Siem Riep.
