What happend to the sleepy old and quaint town?

A travel blog entry by somsakyimsiam on Aug 25, 2014

... few bars and restaurants, hotels and condos and do not forget malls and voila the Thai resort town concept stands.
Thailand is such a beautiful country, full of natural wonders and upcountry friendly happy folks.
The Government has not master plan to develop this sustainably and above all to preserve culture and natural resources.
Culture is exploited by Thais themselves who love to blame foreigner for it and natural resources are raped literally.

... The sea water is roasting, as warm as a bath, I didn't want to get out. So we left Hau Hin by train, this time travelling in 3rd class, much to Lullah's disgust! No need for windows or doors, experiencing the outdoors-indoors! The four hour journey cost us £2 in total, I never knew so many people could fit in such a confined place, just as you thought no one else could possibly fit on board, a few more would squeeze in. Despite the 'cosy' conditions it was way better than that bus ...

Last two days were spent just relaxing. Either by the pool or down the beach.
No new place being visited. A few spots revisited.
Went out and had a closer look at the fishing pier where all the fishing trawlers and boats unload all their catches. Also locals fishing off the pier as well as people casting nets trying to snag the odd fish, from what I saw in the nets it was slim ...

... br> There were still regulations at this temple about ‘short-shorts’ and sleeveless shirts but decent length shorts were acceptable. After the ‘respectable’ rules at the other temple, it was strange to see a worshipping young Thai gentleman wearing a t-shirt stating ‘**** everything" allowed admission. This just seemed disrespectful in a Buddhist temple to me.

This temple had several beautiful housed golden Buddha’s, several ...

Nearing the end of peace and quiet

A travel blog entry by genekiernan on Jan 25, 2011

We have spent the past ten days, or so, in a home we rented in the beach side community of Prachuap Khirikhan, about 40 km south of Hua Hin on the Gulf of Thailand. The house is one house away from another one of those almost deserted beaches. The beach is actually two 10 mile long sweeping arcs of sand with beautiful off shore islands and , when Kay is ...
