First Day in Paradise
Despite the fact that we didn't arrive here until 2 am. we were up at a reasonable hour and eager to start enjoying this beautiful island. We had a great breakfast that included fresh passion fruit, papaya, and watermelon.
Picking up our rental car was next on our agenda. This is not a speedy process (Avis, you will know I am talking …
Raro weekend
We have had a relaxing weekend here in Rarotonga with lots of beach time, a little shopping and lots of good eating. On Saturday morning we got up early so we could make an early trip to the Punga Nui market. The market sells all kinds of fresh food, clothing, jewelry, carvings, handicrafts, beauty products and more. I was excited to meet a local …

All I can say about this place is, aaaaahhh. Arriving there after a long flight from LA, we checked into our room and then explored the grounds. Walking through the beautiful flowers, along the walkway and down to the sand, I felt the rat race literally melting off my shoulders. There are hammocks and lounge chairs for the guests out on the beach, so of course we sank into those and just absorbed the quiet.
If you're looking for a Waikiki-type experience, this is not the place for you, but it was exactly what the doctor ordered for me.
The property is very clean and well-laid out; they offer entertainment in their restaurant/lounge, and the restaurant opens early for breakfast too; I loved wandering in early and getting my "flat white" which is their version of my latte at home, then sauntering out to sit and watch the ocean wake up. Nighttime was so dark out there it was kind of spooky sitting on the beach but also so very cool to see the stars of the southern hemisphere.
The staff was exemplary. Always polite and helpful, I have no complaints at all about this resort and would highly recommend it to anyone headed for the Cook Islands.
