We haven't been to Bend area for many years. Sunriver seems to be a popular summer destination amongst friends, so we decided to go, not that we need more heat and blazing sun after the 4-week stay in Washington D.C. ;-)

After a brief visit to Sunriver Nature Center, we headed to the resort marina for a 3+ hour float down the Deschutes River. Even though the views along Deschutes was magnificent, boys quickly became bored of floating in the blazing sun.
... of the two lane road one each way had sheer drops on either side. The for the rest of the way to Bend it was one continuous very long straight road very boring. Some shopping occurred...then we pressed on to travel down the Columbia River. We tend to forget that they have a dam across it at John Day River and therefore the salmon never get above it.
