The pick up was at 7.15 this time, plenty of time for breakfast but lucky it was finished before 7, the bus was there by then, this time we were the final pickup. Again we were the only westerners on the outing but as usual everyone was friendly and we were treated as they put it 'Guests of the Philippines'. We were off to Honda Bay, a beautiful area containing islands of various sizes and pro-ported to have wonderful beaches and snorkelling. ...

Day 1: Arrival @ Puerto Princesa

We ride a tricycle from the airport to Duchess Pension and paid only P30.00. Duchess Pension is a budget friendly accomodation with a good atmosphere and friendly staff. We availed a non-air room for P450. The room is just fine for a couple. It's clean but you will be sharing CR. Wifi is available at the lobby but you have to pay P50.00. They also serve breakfast at reasonable prices.

Another visitor! Hurray! ************e makes the long trek over to this side of the planet to see us. In fact, we can count on two fingers the number of people who have. On the agenda were a trip to Lake Taal for a Filipino lunch while viewing the volcano, a stop at Collette's for warm buko pie, a visit to the Mind Museum and Ayala ...

... with little sleep we decided to sleep in the airport. The sleep we had in the airport wasn't bad. It was off and on for about 4 hours. By 9 we decided that we should get up start moving and try to find out hotel. When we walked outside it was our first wave of heat and oh man was it nice. The sun the trees everything about it was just what we needed. We had a lovely taxi driver who told us all about Manila. He pointed out important spots and told us the ...

... but it was great to be able to see one up close again. The first island, Pandan, was busy but food options seem good there, older lonely planet guides stated it as someplace to bring your own food. The second was starfish and my favorite stop. Hardly a soul, looks like a failed resort had left much of their tables and booths there but otherwise nothing to do but wander, snorkel and soak in the sun. My kind of place. A fresh cut coconut would've been nice, must get good at hacking ...
