... the border of Quebec and Maine at Coburn on highway 27. We knew we were going to have to stop the car at the border and we had no idea whether we would be able to get the car to get going again.

There was an automated gate arm at the Canadian border. When we came to a stop, we were on an uphill, and when the arm raised and we were supposed to proceed through, our car stayed EXACTLY in the same spot...the clutch wouldn't work! We watched in horror as the divider ...

... the day. The kids swam, the grown-ups relaxed and chatted, the Dads played 'Monkey in the Middle' with the kids, we ate a picnic lunch......All in all a perfect way to bring our time together to a close. This was wrapped up nicely by stopping for a giant ice cream at the Weld General Store and we all sat on the front porch while we licked and gnawed our way through the afternoon treat. We then went back to the house and for our final dinner together we had margaritas, ...

When we went to sleep tonight the tally stood at Tim 2, Brett 2, Sara 0, and Jess 0. The bottom of the leaderboard was not moving despite the concerted and determined efforts of Jess in particular, but the top was now a neck and neck race with one more evening to come. ...

... for two days after the walk.
We were back to the house just after 6pm and walked into a scene of asian dumplings being assembled in preparation for a group dinner back at the camp on the lake. We pitched in, played our part and soon all 8 of us were heading back to the camp for a potluck dinner. The kids went for a swim in the lake and just as dinner was being served, the thunder clapped over the lake and the kids were quickly rounded up before the storm hit. We all sat down for ...

... grossly unkind to this building as it is a magnificent structure that has one main room, an upstairs loft, a pull-out couch, carpeting and floor to ceiling windows on the side facing the woods. We reckon it is more deserving of the title "Guest Chalet!" After the kids played all afternoon and the Dads constructed, we all sat down to hamburgers and hotdogs and salad of fresh vegetables. By now, the kids were yawning, rubbing their eyes ...
