Last Day with the Shifrins

... the day. The kids swam, the grown-ups relaxed and chatted, the Dads played 'Monkey in the Middle' with the kids, we ate a picnic lunch......All in all a perfect way to bring our time together to a close. This was wrapped up nicely by stopping for a giant ice cream at the Weld General Store and we all sat on the front porch while we licked and gnawed our way through the afternoon treat. We then went back to the house and for our final dinner together we had margaritas, ...

Ladies Day Out

... prepare for the arrival home of Jess and Sara.
When we were all reunited, everyone fed and kids tucked into bed, we sat down for our nightly ritual of an evening board game, once more it was Settlers of Catan. When we went to sleep tonight the tally stood at Tim 2, Brett 2, Sara 0, and Jess 0. The bottom of the leaderboard was not moving despite the concerted and determined efforts of Jess in particular, but the top was now a neck and neck race with one more evening to come. ...

Today was going to be boys' day as Tim and Brett and two of his friends had an ambitious walking plan which basically consisted of 3 Peaks and 3 beers!!!! After the Dads left, they packed up the car and headed out to the movies to see "Diary of A Wimpy Kid: Dog Days". Then they went to a bookstore and got some neat reading books, Calvin and Hobbes for Lily ...

... grossly unkind to this building as it is a magnificent structure that has one main room, an upstairs loft, a pull-out couch, carpeting and floor to ceiling windows on the side facing the woods. We reckon it is more deserving of the title "Guest Chalet!" After the kids played all afternoon and the Dads constructed, we all sat down to hamburgers and hotdogs and salad of fresh vegetables. By now, the kids were yawning, rubbing their eyes ...

... frosting. While the cake was cooling, we went down to join the rest of the crew at the beach and all had a quick swim and then returned home for a wonderful dinner of homemade pizza. Kids and grown-ups hung out and after the kids went to bed, we began our nightly ritual of playing board games. Tonight was Monopoly and it went down as one of the quickest games in history and before you knew it, Tim was victorious.
Adult game tally: Tim 1, Brett 0, Jess 0, and Sara ...
