This is Charles. We looked into going to Lombock and the Gili islands, but it was a bit pricey so we decided to spend some more time in Sanur instead. We probably would have made a different choice if this was at the beginning of our trip, but we were getting travel weary again and we knew we could relax and enjoy our time in Sanur.

Yesterday I was leaving Cebu City, and the Philippines, so i was excited to have a taxi who was not only friendly but TURNED THE METER ON! Usually in Cebu they refused and just tried to charge me double the going rate and I'd have to barter and they'd make me feel guilty and pout. It was awful. But this guy had the meter on, I didn't even have to ask.
AND he was chatty! Friendly! So ...

... You pull up at traffic lights and the person next to you strikes up a conversation, genuinely interested in where you are from and where you are headed and wishes you a pleasant day as they wave goodbye, it really is a brilliant culture that exists here. I was a very happy man when we finally touched down and stepped out into the tropical heat.

The forecast for the coming week was thunderstorms and rain every single day but it was a beautiful day when we ...
