      Overpriced luxury

Bungalow was wonderful but set across the road and in the trees with no view of the beach is not ideal. Extortionate and compulsory charging for a Chrismas Eve dinner even less ideal. For a far more pleasant and cheaper alternative stay at Miami just along the beach - ate and drank there and stayed well clear of the bar and restaurant at Sri Lanta. Even breakfast was disappointing - pork and more park and western food only. Why would I go to Thailand to have bacon and eggs

      ... after 8am.

We were only really using Trang as a quick stop on the way to Koh Lanta but didnt expect to only be there about an hour! Immediately after leaving the train we were accosted. We didnt really have a plan as the internet hadnt been particularly helpful in this area so when a nice enough looking lady offered a transfer for the price we were expecting we agreed. After a quick rush to the ATM and pruchase of some pineappe pie for breakfast, we were ...

... arrive we have a nice relaxed swim in the pool. Afterwards we head back to Krabi town and I take him to my favorite night market for a real good dinner. Nong enjoys it a lot too because the food tastes like home and spicy too!! In the evening I go to get a good massage and I feel so flexible again. Tomorrow we get up at 6 AM to drive to Ko Lanta island on the motor bike and enjoy two relaxed days at the beautiful beach ...

... was gone. Not that we slept after that.

Ko Lanta is rural Thailand at its finest - rice fields, outstanding mountaintop viewpoints, zero shops but plenty of roadside stalls offering fruit and veg grown in the trader's back yards. Tres authentic!

EAT & DRINK: Ko Lanta is far from tourist-central, so late night bars and choice of restaurants are few and far between. However, the diamonds in the ruff that do exist tend to host either ...

... a week, ramshackle shops with dirt roads weaving in and out, it was chaotic, ugly and dirty. Dive shops with westerners being overly friendly trying to get you to buy trips next to massage parlours where massages are offered in the day and happy endings in the evening, tattoo shops where the artists lay asleep when the suns out then receive all they're business from drunken idiots at 2-3am, oh and a club where you can fight people for a free bucket.... It felt like a ...
