Bungalow was wonderful but set across the road and in the trees with no view of the beach is not ideal. Extortionate and compulsory charging for a Chrismas Eve dinner even less ideal. For a far more pleasant and cheaper alternative stay at Miami just along the beach - ate and drank there and stayed well clear of the bar and restaurant at Sri Lanta. Even breakfast was disappointing - pork and more park and western food only. Why would I go to Thailand to have bacon and eggs

... With our snorkel gear on, including our flippers, we jumped into the bluest of blues water. We had half an hour here where we swim amongst the beautifully coloured fish and coral. We got to see loads of weird and wonderful fish, fishes where we normally find in aquatic tanks back home. It was far the best snorkeling that we have done to date. The 30 minutes swam past (excuse the pun) and it was time to climb back on the boat. We made away along the choppy seas to the island ...
... mini bus, all luggage unpacked, not one word of english spoken, we just went with it, all i could hear was places being called out.. being ushered to the lanta mini bus we stood in amazement at our luggage being thrown from the ground up onto the roof of this taxi and then tied down with straps.. all for a short ride to the pier, i thought this was very weird. With people squished in and bags filling every available space we went off.. Going with ...
... We had no clue what Koh Lanta was like and even less clue about our accomodations as we had only read reviews of the place and hadn't seen any pictures. Walking down this dirt we passed place after place with such names as 'happy bar,' 'mushroom bar' and 'gypsy bar.' These establishments were next to places advertising piercings, dreadlock growth and maintenance and 'slack line inside.' It soon dawned on us that we had landed in one big ...
... travellers they normally see! (By which I mean dreaded hair, baggy hessian shirt and some sort of man-skirt, and invariably some sort of string necklace with a charm on it that some witch doctor probably said would make them mighty in all their ways). Our first impressions of Luboa Hut were just that it is idyllic. You genuinely could not imagine what it's like here - it's like someone's built a film set for the most remote little island getaway ever... The beach is beautiful, the 10 or ...
... to get to the old town on the East side. En route we stopped at a viewpoint bar which gave us a vista of the sweeping mangrove forest down to the sea. It was noticeably different terrain this side which showed how varied these islands are, even whilst on the same island!
We didn’t know what to expect of the old town, a dusty road with shacks like the rest of the island probably but we were not prepared for what ...
