I don't remember what we had for dinner, but for sure the food in Turkey and Greece at modest restaurants is far superior to the very expensive offerings at the most basic places in downtown Amsterdam.       ... so pondering the lessons learned. There are several. But if one googles taxi scams, one finds this kind of thing is quite well known. Lesson 1 - if the driver won't go right to the hotel be VERY alert and suspicious. Less 2 - Pay the driver AFTER you get out of the cab. Seeing as they were planing to go to Vancouver Island tonight with it, they decided they would wait till later on to get it fixed, so Anson and I ran into Bellingham to pick it up.       ... Rich said that it was a 10 year passport obtained last year. We thought "here we go again". Seeing that Rich can't get into the US for another 6 months we thought we would be left languishing in the 30m no mans land between the US and Canadian checkpoints. Everything went OK though - phew!
