... we wanted to cook from a list of about 100dishes. I chose Thai Green curry, Sweet and sour chicken, Thai beef salad, noodle soup and Thai fish cakes. We started with the curry and had to make the paste in a pestle and mortar which is tiring for the arms (thank god for electric blenders) and then proceeded to cook each dish under instruction with lovely fresh ingredients. ... on!! Just look like you do and it might save you a few quid.... Made it to Paradise Bungalows on Kai Bae beach,, just a standard bungalow for 700 baht.. Popped out after getting changed for some Mexican fri..... Stuff!! Not convinced in mex stuff wrapped in cardboard,, so left there and went for old faithful Tom yum instead.. ... Sleeping on a paper thin mat under a mosquito net. Washing dishes outside over a rock while the chickens peck at stray bits of rice. Preparing food at an outdoor picnic table with seats so ride you have to sit with legs crossed. Bathing, cooking and drinking rain water stored in giant concrete urns as tall as I am. Burning coconut husks in an old pot in the middle of the room to keep off mosquitoes. It gives you a different perspective on life.
