Couldn't have asked for more
We just spent 2 weeks at Shorewalk mid-May till early June. What a beautiful place! Everything is exactly as advertised. It looks just like the pictures you can find on the net. Definitely a reasonable price for what you get. Spacious rooms, beautiful view, and they even provide you with a few basic necessities to get started. The washer-dryer was really great, since Florida is humid! Drying towels and bathing suits was never a problem.
Everything was clean, too. And, the location is very convenient to all kinds of stores, restaurants, beach, etc. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay, and couldn't have asked for more! I would definitely go back! One comment about the area, even if it seems really cloudy, check out the beach (Ana Maria Island is 10 minutes away.) The weather is often nicer on the beach!
After spending two weeks in lake buena vista at the parks it was very peaceful coming here. The apartments were spacious and comfortable. The amenities good. If the weather had been better it would of been fantastic, but we had rain for two days non stop. The only downside being most restaurants were over the other side of the very very busy road which used to take an age to cross. Also could of done with access to the internet for our teenagers as the suites we stayed in, in Orlando did.
Short break at relaxing shorewalk
we have just returned from two weeks in florida mainly in orlando but stayed for two nights in shorewalk to sample the gulf coast. we wished we would have booked for longer as it was a lovely retreat after the hectic parks.it was nice and clean which is important with three children, the youngest being ten months.the staff were very friendly and helpful, they even let us check in early. We were on the second floor but the children were safe with the netting surrounding the balcony. The only thing I would say was alittle dissapointing was the park for the little ones. It looks good but as you get closer it could do with a bit of maintenance. The beaches were beautiful there are plenty of resturants nearby and a walmart and publix. I would recommend shorewalk for a relaxing break for families and couples.
Great value for money and very conveneient
Have just come back from 11 days at Shorewalk including Spring Break. Once the Easter Week-end had gone the place was quiet and the pools etc uncrowded. Very tranquil setting. Watching the wild life around the lakes was a joy (squirrels, ducks, geese, turtles). Great to come back to after a hot busy day.
The apartment was a bit tired but very clean and had everything we needed for a holiday. Excellent value for money for a family of four and the washing machine/dryer meant we could travel light(er). Good place for young families or older coupls. Not the place if you are into the Clubbing scene!
10 mins drive max to the beach and a grocery store Albertsons 5 mins walk away. Applebees, the Ale House and Outback Steak House all 10 mins walk away to eat as is the multi screen cinema, bowling and Walmart down the road.
Yes it could do with a refurb internally but don't let that put you off. We will go again.
Good holiday centre
The villas are extremely spacious and well equipped.2 bedrooms,2 bathrooms-ideal for a family of 4-just a pity there wasn't 2 TV's!
Yes they could benefit from a bit of refurbishment but for the price I have no real complaints.
the layout of the complex is very pleasant, plenty of shops in neighbourhood and a golf club over the road with very reasonable rates.
the pool area is very pleasant but could get crowded in high season-beaches are a 10 minute drive but need to search out public beach areas as most of Anna maria Island is residential or holiday let apartments
All in all I would recommend this place
Visited Shorewalkfor 2 weeks as a group of 2 couples in October 2003 and had a fantastic time. The condo was clean and spacious. It was comfortable and fairly well equipped. If we needed clean linen/towels we just tookthe soiled ones to the laundry and exchanged them. It was quiet at that time of year, not many people around the pools. The club house was very quiet, we felt they could have made better use of it especially if you could have got a beer! Several of the facilities advertised, such as pedaloes and cycles were non existent. Shorewalk itself is in a good spot with plenty of shops and restaurants on the doorstep. Try Applebees- superb food and 2 for 1 drinks all night. It's about a 10 min drive to Anna Maria island which is absolutely idyllic. I'd go back tomorrow. On the downside the sunbeds are $15 for 2 and they collect them in at 3.45pm! Have a drive down to St Armands Key for speciality shops and people watching - spot the face-lift! One of the best things about the area is that you pay the locals prices, not tourist prices and everyone is friendly and helpful. PS if you travel with Mytravel you will have no entertainment on the plane on the way home. They tell you it is broken. This has happened to several colleagues as well as myself
WISH WE WERE STILL THERE!!
Lovely spacious apartments, but could do with some refurbishment. Only things missing were egg cups. Beds soooooo comfy!! Shame can't hire boats or rollerblades anymore. Walking distance to bars, restaurants, shops, cinema. 10 minute drive to wonderful beaches and clear sparkling warm waters. Everyone we met polite and friendly. Pools small but Oct/Nov not crowded at all. Loved our time there and would like to buy accommodation around that area.
We love it here!
We have been coming to florida as a family for around 11 years and have stayed at shorewalk either for a week or 2 weeks 8 times! The aparments are lovely although noticibly shappyer then when we first stated coming. When we arrive at shorewalk it is like coming home it is so welcoming and the lakes and trees add to it's beauty. You can hire out bikes and roller blades and so on however i don't think the boats are still available for the lakes. The apartments are within walking distance of supermarkets, cinemans and restruants--you must try the outback restrurant. Beaches are only a 10 minute drive away and many shopping malls are in the area. The large outlet mall of Elleneton is only a 20 minutecar ride away. The only bad thing here is that you usually only get 1 tv and that is a proplem with my 2 kids. Also make sure you get a good positioned apartment they may try and give you one quite far away from the 2 pools but just say no i'd rather be closer and they will accommodate you. Enjoy!
My view of Shorewalk
We stayed here for a week. Nice grounds but the whole place needs a bit of updating. The bikes and boats are no longer available for hire. The apartments are a good size but could do with refurbishing.
Ideal for Family Holiday
We stayed there in April 2002 and are going back this April - so it must be good.Apartments are spacious and comfortably furnished. Plenty of room for 4. Extremely well equipped - only complaint is hairdryers aren't provided - but you can hire them from reception. All the staff are very helpful and informative.Supermarkets and several restaurants within easy walk - no bar/restaurant on site - but that keeps it a restful complex.Pools are spotless, were never too busy and lovely and warm - must be the hotest jacuzzi ever! Tennis courts are excellent. Grounds are well maintained.Ideal for a rest - a short drive from the beach with plenty of amenities on site or very close by.

I looked off to my right and what did I see??? A place that sold food. Yippeee, seeing how I hadn't eaten in a couple hours, I sauntered, at my age I should be shuffling, over and behold and low they offered shrimp. Yessir, I ordered up some deep fried fresh shrimp with fries and a coke. I put my behind at a table outside, overlooking the sea and soon the feast arrived. Ignoring the birds that were begging, I enjoyed ...
Today is Saturday, October 3rd, so it must be day 13 of my NP tour. Today we spend an hour or so waking through the lost luggage store in Scottsboro, Alabama where Barbara bought a new John Lescroart book for $3, and we got the road for Florida. The goal today was to get deep into Florida so we can make the Everglades and Key West tomorrow. After about 700 miles of driving, we ended the day about 100 miles North of the Everglades in ...
... and watched a bit of that. We explored Venice Florida and the coastline. Some nice parts of each area and some rather broken down areas in equal measure. The coastline seems dominated by tourist trap motels and stores for the most part, some areas just a bit more upscale than others but all in all a Rt. 28 Yarmouth/Dennis feel.

a note to the reader: in true lara/simon fashion best intentions to write a blog has fallen to the wayside in favor of sunsets and surf and face to face chats. also we're just a bit **** at this kind of thing. but we do want to keep people up to date and realise have been emails to update (some but not all) people so thought mostly copy them to catch all interested up to date then continue by the blog.
so we made our way down the east ...
