Tahiti has long captured my imagination as a place of beauty and romance. No offence to my travelling partner, but Aaron isn't my idea of a hot date. Still, the two of us had two fun days in this paradise swarming with honeymooners. Our flight in from the Cook Islands contained about 20 backpackers from our hostel, but almost all continued on to LA. One young lady from Wisconsin, Stephanie, said goodbye to her gaggle of study abroad classmates and spent the night in the Papeete airport with u...
Moorea and Tahiti, French Polynesia cmjHeading west across the Pacific a stop-over in Tahiti was inflicted upon us. Oh the hardship! Paradise doesn't come without it's problems though, and in Tahiti the problem - for us anyway - was the expense. Our flight got in at about 12:30am, and choices were rather limited. Buses don't run late, a taxi in to town would be at least 20 quid, and a couple of beds in a dorm in town would be 50 quid!! So we went with Plan B; settle in for an epic 6hr '********' showdown and spend the night in the...
Mo'orea, French Polynesia edc
Well folks how goes - pics from French Polynesia will be up soon - can't seem to upload them here in Paradise - way too laid back for that.

So my last night in Auckland was spent with family of sorts. My brother-in-laws sister and her husband and little one live in Auckland so i went round for dinner. Already in a couple of hours I saw more of Auckland and got more of a feel for it than I would have done had i been a tourist for two weeks. I always ...
Moorea, Society Islands, French Polynesia codownsean20th April 2009 We had arranged to go to Mo'orea today which meant catching the ferry across. We packed up our stuff, grabbed some breakfast and then went to catch the bus, we were told that any time after 9.30am would be OK as before that they would be too busy and would not stop to pick us up with our luggage. So at 9.30am we stood at the bus stop and the 1st bus drove past, so we waited, luckily not for long before the next bus came along. This bus was half empty so it ...
Moorea, Society Islands, French Polynesia dlzWoke up to a sunny day with a beautiful island awaiting us! We had been told that Moorea has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Decided we were going to rent scooters to explore the island however they were all out when we arrived. Instead we hired a local taxi driver (aka Papee) to show us around the island. Another couple from Germany asked to join us and so we all jumped in and away we went. Did we ...
Papeete, Society Islands, French Polynesia xandbrtw... inexpensive they really were while there. We took in a beautiful sunset on the moto and took the ferry back across to Tahiti. We were sick of the high prices already and were looking for a bargain for dinner. We had heard of a group of caravans that set up in a parking lot near the port starting at 6pm - they set up tables and cook out of their vans and when all is said and done, they pack it all up and drive away. Genius!! Of course, the majority of ...
Papeete, Society Islands, French Polynesia nikolassarah... depart on a 5 hour flight to somewhere but lose a whole day doing it. Finally, apologies for the lack of updates (thank god some are thinking, less drivel) but since arriving in New Zealand we have been having a blast, plus no internet in our campervan (or mains power for that point) makes things a little trickier. I'll be sure to take a bit of time out to get back up to speed and let you all know about the adrenaline stuff we've been up to. So it's goodbye for now but Kia Ora soon !!!
Moorea, French Polynesia shieldsontour... it wasn't so hot because of the breeze. Just like home. Our first two stops were both for waterfalls; apparently there are over 40 on the island that the island people have named - the others don't have names because they only flow when it has rained. I wish I could remember the names, but Tahitian is so different and I can't even remember what the names sounded like let alone how to spell them. I wished I'd had a tripod to take pictures of the waterfalls. Next we drove ...
Papeete, French Polynesia randiandersenWe are in Tahiti today. The ship will be in port until 4 tomorrow am.
