Historical Traveler Reviews Sheraton Fuerteventura Beach, Golf & Spa Resort

    My lovely Honeymoon at Sheraton!

    from

We've just returned from our lovely and very special honeymoon in Sheraton Fuerteventura and I must say that it wasn't good ... It was PERFECT!!!!

We made a reservation for an estandar room but they gave us a SUITE! It was perfect, with an amazing sea view and a very beautiful decoration. And also the hotel gave us free entrance to the Spa (it's excellent: the place and the staff!).

We'll never forget the quality of the service and the very professional staff of the hotel.

Thanks a lot for making our honeymoon so special and unforgettable!!

    Anne & John Merrell.

    Uno Sheraton a tre stelle

    from

    Wonderful place for families

    from

We recently returned home (12th July) from a most enjoyable holiday at the Sheraton Fuerteventura Beach Hotel. We were truly impressed by the beautiful surroundings, the excellent service and the wonderful food in this most luxurious hotel.

I am delighted to say that we enjoyed ourselves so much that we are returning to spend another week at the hotel and will be arriving on September

    Molto molto delusa

    from

Sconsiglio vivamente.

    Great Hotel, terrible service

    from

Having just returned (9th August 2006) from a one week stay at this new hotel (opened may 06) it is necessary for prospective guests to made aware of 'major' service problems. I should firstly say that the fabric of the hotel, rooms and pool areas are excellent & definately 5 star...but that, unfortunately, is where the 5 star ends. This was my week's experience....a wait of 40 mins to check in with only one receptionist....being woken at 8.30 on two mornings by cleaners in corridors and adjoining rooms shouting and banging with total disregard for guests sleeping...no hotel info/literature within the room and having to request 4 times for a simple room service menu before a photocopy eventually arrived...having to ask 5 times for the room safe to be fixed, eventually giving up and doing without....having to search for a clean/laid table for breakfast most mornings after 9.30...there being no poolside waiter service coupled with the pool bar not opening until noon....having sat at a table for lunch and dinner on several occassions then waiting upto 15mins for a menu, upto further 20mins to order and further 45mins for food to arrive...having to send back poor food with no 'i'm sorry sir what else can we get you' , nothing, just a bill...i witnessed several other irate guests complaining and walking out of restaurants...rarely was i greeted with a smile by staff members, they appear miserable, unwelcoming and demotivated.

It is clear that there are insufficient staff and those that are there appear untrained and unsupervised. On complaining to the management, they acknowledge there are 'major problems' (their words) but excuse the fact that it is a new hotel and that the current 'offer' prices reflect this substandard service...i wish that had been made clear to me before hand as like many other guests looking for a 5 star hotel..5 star service is also expected. This service i would rate at 2 star and i have returned home more stressed than when i left.

Other factors to bear in mind are:- there is a building site next door although this has little impact once inside the hotel or around the pool areas; the hotel is directly under the flight path and only about 4 miles from the end of the runway of Feurteventura Airport; the hotel states it is a golf resort however the club is situated at a neighbouring hotel and requires a taxi there and back; the spa is very nice but you are required to pay 15euro to enter and you cannot leave and re-enter, you must pay again; the other side of the building site there is a shopping complex with a supermarket and some fast food outlets as well as clothes and gift shops.

It is a shame that this was our experience of what should be a first class resort...maybe in the future it will be rectified and i look forward to reading future reviews to see if this is the case.

    Luxus für die Familie!!!

    from

    from

    Family Luxury!!!

    from

We have just returned from a week away at the Sheraton. After trawling through endless brochures and reading numerous reviews we sort of stumbled upon the Sheraton and all I can say is I am so pleased we did!

My husband and I along with our 2 year old had a fab time. The picture posted on this site is not a true reflection of the hotel, it has slyly been taken from the side which does not interfere at all with the hotel one little bit. Look at their own webiste because the photos on there are spot on. We had a massive room which was spotlessly clean. It is brilliant if you have kids or not. There is something for everyone. There were families and couple at the hotel. Facilities superb, spa best I have been to. Food also good. They have a Asian restaurant which could be better but buffet has something for all. The beach is also so close by which is great! All in all if you are looking for luxury without having to compromise this is the place. Look out for Dora the waitress who was absolutely great! We stayed on HB basis there is a huge supermarket where you can buy water etc but also on second floor an amazing place that does pizza and ice cream! All flavours including ferrero rocher! It was lush. My 2 year old loved it!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to go back!

    Just a warning....

    from

i have'nt stayed here although it looks very nice! but be warned a new hotel is being built right next door to it so if you are on the left hand side of the hotel (facing the hotel from the pedestrian promenade with your back to the beach) you will be looking out on a building site - if you have booked to go here it might be worth a phone call/email to check you are not put on that side of the hotel. Its entirely possible that the hotel is not allocating those rooms anyway but i thought people on here would like to be aware of this building site!!

    First time in Fuerteventura

    from

Have just returned from the newly opened Sheraton Hotel in Fuerteventura. This is our first visit to the island and we spent our time in luxurious surroundings. Whilst not everything has been fully completed/opened at the hotel, the staff are only too willing to help make your stay more enjoyable.

The deluxe rooms are very spacious with beatifully fitted bathrooms, fluffy towels and robes and bright soft furnishings in the room. The beds are most certainly sweet sleepers! Although at the time of our stay, tea and coffee was not available in the room, a call to reception provided the welcome refreshements within minutes at no charge.

The pool area, whilst still in need of maturing, is vast with plenty of swimming pools, and sunbeds. The kiddies area is superb. Some parts are still under construction, e.g. mini golf and playing courts, but if this is your thing, check it out before you travel.

The food was brilliant. The choice excellent for breakfast and in the evening, the special grill bar was used due to the low number of guests at the time of our stay. The waiters were wonderful, very friendly and more than willing to help with your choice of main course. We have never stayed at a hotel where so many of the staff are constantly smiling:).

Although we didn't stay long enough to make use of the Spa, the facilities are superb, you'll definitely enjoy!

We have every intention of returning to the hotel in the near future.

    Absolutely fabulous*****

    Puerto del Rosario

A travel blog entry by maxieduncan on Jul 10, 2014

I decided a night in Puerto del Rosario might be good for a change of scene and I had an early flight in the morning. I probably should have listened more to what I'd been told, it's more industrial and not so enjoyable. Still it was a transit stop that helped me get to the airport in plenty of time, the bus being much more efficient than I'd expected.

Landing at the airport I quickly found that they only had one ATM and it was out of order and there was nowhere to exchange cash. So rather than getting the bus I was lumped with a taxi.

It was a small bump in what was a chilled five days in the little town of Corralejo in the north of Fuerteventura, one of the Canary Islands. It's a kiteboarding and surfing paradise so not quite my cup of tea but I really enjoyed the laid back vibe ...

    Alone on a desert island

May 12-23: I am on my own on a desert island. Fuerteventura (means "strong winds"), the second-largest island in the Canaries archipelago, lies just 100 kilometres northwest of Africa. There used to be some groundwater and precipitation, but now there's just year-round sunshine and hardly any rain. Water comes from desalination, powered by wind turbines.
