... Middle East, this was my first real experience of the area and now I can understand why Rod has always spoken so highly of his time there.

We arrived in delightful Doha glad to find the new airport had opened and it wasn't long before we were in a taxi on our way into town. We lucked in with a fabulous taxi driver who gave us a commentary along the way. With the sun having set the city scape was brilliantly lit, a stunning show of colours danced ...

... we had plenty of time to look over the HUGE city as we circled for about 30 mins waiting to land. The buildings seemed to go on and on. Istanbul has a population of 14 million. By this time I had a headache and the rough landing we had at Istanbul did not go down to well!
After getting in the line for Immigration I noticed a sign pointing to the visa counter so out of line we went to get them. It didn't take too long and we were ...

I have learned much about many things! Interestingly enough I continue to be more cognoscente of my abilities and self imposed limitations. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity. I hear that at some point I will hit a wall and, have an overwhelming sense of what have I done? Perhaps I will never reach that point however; I can only take it day by day. I feel The Lord is with me and guiding my way. I can only continue to trust. My kitchen, well...I ...

... definitely wasn't expecting in Qatar. It was all expensive, but the only place you can get a drink in the city! After Sam having to rush off to work at 6am on Saturday morning to sort a problem, we headed back into town. Lunch was in a lovely market area, a Lebanese restaurant. It was nice to see a bit of Qatari culture here. We also went to see Damien Hirst's exhibition Relics, which was free and the first time a lot of his work had been displayed. I didn't love everything, but it ...

... I was also impressed by architecture so I will include another photo. Then it was time to leave to catch my shuttle back to the airport. The flight was delayed over two hours which wasn't such a bother for me, as I didn't relish getting in at 3:00 am, however, had I known I would have enjoyed seeing more of Doha. Gratefully, they bumped me to business, thank you again Qatar!!! I hope to travel with you again :). Too bad that even in business class, I don't manage to sleep very well on ...
