... t need food so we busied ourselves with sightseeing. It had a very similar in layout to Dubai. We thought of the football fans arriving in such a place for the 2022 World Cup and only hoped there were to be some relaxation on alcohol rules otherwise it will not work. Though it already won't work on so many levels that I suppose this one didn't really matter. Our 3 hours between flights actually went surprisingly quickly once we cleared security. Easy boarding for the next ...

          Bad form

A travel blog entry by luarzepol on Jun 12, 2015

This is not a travel story but a lesson in the blame game. It appears that the administrative staff at ASAS Towers needs to pin the blame on somebody for the shattered glass pane in our flat. So the most logical person is the most in-defenseless of the food chain. The cleaning lady. Of course, my tone is harsh. It reeks of injustice. It was just under two hours until our flight, so no major panic, but if there ...

After a swim in the pool in the compound we went to explore the souk. Just about the only buildings on a human scale here in Doha. Built in the last year or so on the site of the original town it is full of little boutiques all clustered together depending upon their wares. We found the animal slightly distressing as animals were piled up like baked beans, many of which would ...

I had planned to write my first blog entry a couple of weeks before departure, but between travel, work and frantic last minute trip preparation (read: purchasing of an entire new wardrobe) this fell by the wayside.
Having spent the best part of a year planning this trip, compiling list after list of items to buy, pack, arrange etc, I thought I had everything pretty well in hand. The night before departure, ...
