... right beside it, all we could see was a vague outline in the fog. After a discussion, we decided to climb the road up the side of the mountain that leads to an elevation of about 10K ft. As we began the ascent, the sun began peeking through enough for us to see the road clearly and we made our way to the top. Well, not exactly the top. The mountain is 14,800 ft., give or take, depending on the source of ...

Monday, July 20, 2015. PCT day 92. Miles 1476-1501.8 Today was a 25.8 mile day. I started by 7:30 am and got done by 6:30pm. I even spent about 2 hours for lunch and swimming. So I have a confession. I made a promise to myself to swim in every possible river or swimming hole possible. I am happy to report that I have been swimming every day for the past 3 days. It has been very warm lately, so swimming in any creek or river is always amazing. The creek that I swam in today ...

Sunday, July 19, 2015. PCT day 91. Miles 1452-1476 Today was an amazing day, definitely one of those days where I was on fire, to the point of actually running a few times on the trail. We had 24 miles to get to the McCloud River, and I heard there is good swimming there. The swimming was definitely my incentive to get to that river by 17:00 latest. Even with an hour lunch and a 15 min ...

Saturday, July 18, 2015. PCT day 90. Miles1432-1452 Today was one of those uneventful days. I didn't start hiking until 8am. I was keeping a good pace, getting 9 miles in by 11:15 to the next water source. Being that the water sources are spread out, we are experiencing quite the gathering of hikers at these water sources. I took a long lunch break and nap at this water source called Clark Spring. Cuban B and I had planned to do 25 miles today, but we saw that the next ...

... NEVER live in Shingletown, ever. We stopped at the lone tavern/ restaurant/ pool hall/bar in town. I ordered a chili cheeseburger from the part pony tailed, part head shaved young man with the personality of a rusty nail, hoping that I would not later develop colon blow. He begrudgingly fetched a frozen patty from the freezer, which by the way was in the rundown, my-cushion seat-was-ripped 'dining' area, threw it on the counter next to ...
