Although one man did show me him lighting the leather on the bag to prove that it was real and it seemed to be so I'm still a bit confused about that one! One lady we bought from explained that there were 2,800 people from a cruise ship on the island today and another 3,200 tomorrow from the Princess Mary, which would be pretty cool to even catch a glimpse of Princess ...

It was Monday 2nd February and it was time to go and see my travelling brother. Well he has been over to this side of the world quite alot in the last year. It is a running joke with his friends out here that he might as well apply for permanent residency. We got the local bus from Georgetown to Batu Ferringhi and boy the buses are good in Malaysia. Malaysian satay, Indian pancake and Chinese chicken wings. These are specialist stalls, not items off a menu. East coast Chinese seafood, East meets West Japanese cuisine and Claypot Frog Porridge. Yes really. Your frog, fried or boiled, in just about any fashion you'd like. Thai. Penang oyster and fish. Penang noodles. More Japanese. ...

... Maybe all the good places were closed for Ramadan?

So, we were stressed, broke and hungry in Penang. BUT we still enjoyed the town itself! Georgetown, where we stayed, is an UNESCO World Heritage Site and very charming. They have a few public art initiatives which are fun. We received a map that included a listing of all the public murals and we had ourselves a scavenger hunt. Mostnofmthem aren't just paintings but incorporate an object such as a ...
