This is one way in which Aryan and I differ, whereas Aryan loves to indulge and I always scrimp and save - plus it is my mission of being here to eat in these local places where no one speaks English, the cutlery is lucky if it has been rinsed with hot water (although scarcely used in these places as most choose to eat with their hands however saucy their dish may be - The women must be picking rice out of their fingernails for days after). ...

... this morning then we headed out on a local bus to Penang Hill. At the bottom of the hill there were loads of Hindu Women who had come to visit so we queued up for a bit before we caught the funicular railway up to the summit (1996m high). I am pretty short, and my knees were literally touching the back of the seat in front of me even with my butt as far back in the seat as it would possibly go. There was no way to put my backpack under the seat in front of me without getting out of the row, pushing it into the tiny ...

... on the road - really it was quite dangerous with no pavements but eventually we came to Tesco - yes Tesco where we went and bought a French stick, some cheese and a bottle of wine. Went back to our lovely hotel and had lunch - although it was about 4.00pm by this time.

Later in the evening we went along to the huge shopping mall and went to a restaurant called Chilis - just had some nachos and a cocktail each while watching the Chelsea/Hull match ...
