Well Borneo has been a fantastic week.....we have loved every part of it. So we started in Sepilok.....and we arrived on Thursday late afternoon and transferred to our resort which was fantastic. We were staying in out own little wooden chalet which had a great view out over the valley which was filled with flowers and a pond and wildlife. It had a little verrandah which was perfect for birdwatching (one morning we woke up and looked out the window and there was a little flock of long-tailed...
Sepilok, Malaysia jimandnat... 00am feed and 4 turned up .. they were brilliant and then we went for a walk throught the rainforest .. Aghhhh loads and loads of leeches ... i managed to catch a couple just before they locked onto my ankle and a couple more (one huge!!) on my trousers looking for a yummy spot on which to start sucking!!! Phew .. no bites!!!

Then we watched a video .. that basically asked for money and told us what a good job they are ...
Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia charlotte.in.oz... about it. Looked like many others that I had stayed in for less then 100 R. but then again it did have the swimming pool!!! I settled in and then went to see if I would be on time for the morning feeding at the Orang-Utang center -which I was. Again luckily I decided to go in the morning as about 5 Orang-Utangs showed up and that was the only time they showed up during the two days that I was there ( a total of 4 ...
Sepilok, Malaysia bowtie... the viewing area. Of course when you're in a hurry you always get stuck behind the slowest people around. In this case it was an English couple and their daughter, who I'm not convinced wasn't a little retarded. Anyway we were starting to get a little frustrated with their pace when the girl suddenly decided to headbutt the platform. We both practically roared our delight, stepped over her and rushed on to the feeding. We needn't have been in such a hurry, when we ...
Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia whatthedeuce... hornbills and eagles but nothing any better. The guys that were there the day before me saw elephants, some snakes and even a crocodile so we were all pretty dissapointed when we had to leave later on in the day.

At the moment im in a boring little town called Semporna but tomorrow, with the two people i met on the mountain, we are getting a boat across to an island called Mabul for a couple of days of snorkelling and relaxing on a beach.
Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia tombenson... another morning river safari and getting to see Probiscus monkeys and Orang-utans for probably the last time in our life. Still no Crocs!

We where picked up by a driver from the hostel at Uncle Tans Ops base. Our first glimpse of the place was amazing, a quiet serene jungle hideaway. Housed in a dormatary which was designed in the style of a Longhouse. This was hands down the best place have stayed, the only problem was it was for one night ...
Sepilok, Malaysia shelleyandsimmo... features. Its dirty, looks deprived and has no redeeming features. It is the only place that I have felt on edge whilst on our trip and found myself constantly looking out for Shelley, so much that I wouldn’t let her out on her own. Do not bother with the place instead head straight to Sepilok or Semporna. If Baghdad’s on your list of to do’s then head there instead of here!
Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia shelleyandsimmonext morning came. let the scrambling begin. 7:30am. our amazing hostel hostess begins to help us with what we wanted to experience in sabah and plans an itinerary and makes a plethora of calls. 8:50am. plan complete. 3 days of back-country borneo and 30 minutes to catch the bus. only hitch is we still hadn't changed money or bought supplies for the bus journey to the first destination. ran around and *finally* found the money ...
Sepilok, Malaysia domhnall... the afternoon in preparation for the evening's activities - we had been warned that sometimes the turtles didn't turn up until 4.30 in the morning! As it happens we were really lucky and we got the call for "Turtle Time" at 9.10pm. We were led down to the beach and saw the spectacle of a metre long green mother turtle laying her eggs. These were then transferred by the ranger to the hatchery where ...
Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia willandluce... asian rhinos. We spent the first few days snorkling on our own little island - Manukan off Kota Kinabalu - Trish and Jenny had to share a tent but Jenny didn't snore. Apparently Trish does. Amazing snorkling and drinking pina coladas to top it off. All 5 of us are getting along pretty well. Everyone thinks that Glenn has 4 wives. Some of the ...
