Continuing our dedication to an easy life, today was a jet boat trip to the reef at the Low Islands.
This isn't the major tourist area and doesn't have a big pontoon to swim from, but it does only takes 10 minutes on the open sea rather than hours on a big boat, and the groups are much smaller (max 14 people instead of the 100+ you get at the …
Today we set off bright and early for a full day trip north of Port Douglas with Daintree Discovery Tours.
First on the list was Mossman Gorge. This is a 26km long rainforest gorge with the Mossman River running through it. We went on a high boardwalk to get a better perspective of the forest with our guide pointing out various fauna and …
Today we ventured to the Sunday market to see some locally produced arts and crafts.
There were a good number of stalls with a big range of goods from $1 to $1000's. The postage on a really nice butcher's block back to the UK proved a bit too high and was too large for the suitcases!
Next was a wander around the marina which has a …
Much the same as yesterday but a bit cloudier!
Not a lot to say today as we have been relaxing on our terrace and enjoying a bit of down time and sun.
We took a spin up to the other end of four mile beach and the main area of town, which is quite compact but has a reasonable centre with plenty of shops and restaurants.
It is again weird juxtaposition that there is an …

A beautiful resort located near our access point to the Great Barrier Reef. We have a well-appointed two bedroom condo that overlooks the beautiful pool.....one of the largest I've ever seen. Internet is very slow and frustrating to use. Appreciated our ability to do laundry in our unit.

Historical Traveler Reviews Sea Temple Resort & Spa Port Douglas
My partner and I stayed at the Sea Temple at the end of October for 6 nights. In hindsight, we would have stayed there longer had we known how much we were going to love the place!
We stayed at the Sea Temple Port Douglas for 5 days/4 nights in early November. I can not fault this property. I work in hospitality and am fussy about service and food. It was exactly as I would have hoped. The staff were great, friendly and helpful but never instrusive. Everyone from reception to restaurant staff. They all went out of their way and everyone greets you with a smile and a "hello". The property is to die for. The hotel is gorgeous and the pool is stunning. We spent so much time laying around and in the pool because there was no where else better to be. There tonnes of towels, and a great pool bar. The meals at the pool bar were a little expensive, but I guess fairly typical. The cocktails were great. We stayed in a swimout apartment and I would absolutely reccommend upgrading to one of these. You can not beat stepping into the pool off your own porch and having your own deck. I have no negatives. We loved it. We didn't eat at the hotel, but would thoroughly reccommend both Salsa and Two Fish - the food and service there were also outstanding. We had a chocolate souffle to die for at Salsa.
We originally booked to stay here 5 nights, and the remainder of our 2 week holiday elsewhere. We couldnt leave and ended up staying 10 nights here.
We spent a fantastic 6 nights at the Sea Temple, Port Douglas. The resort has a great feel to it, the pool is amazing and the rooms were new and beautifully furnished.
This is a gorgeous hotel, with an open air lobby and a knockout pool. We booked a room with its own private pool, but honestly, probably wouldn't do that next time. The resort pool is so magnifient, there really is little need for anything else. I personally, though, would recommend a room in the back of the hotel, unless you really enjoy seeing a lot of people swimming by your room.
The Sea Temple Resort was just what I expected a brand new beautiful resort. The staff were friendly, however after staying at the Four Seasons it is hard to live up to the way the staff treat their guests there. That's in another league itself.
THE BEST Five Stars here
This is my second trip to Port Douglas, now I know where the writers of the bible got the description for paradise.
The Sea Temple Port Douglas was clean, new and stunning. The service was nice and professional. The pool was the best I have ever been to and I have traveled the world.
I stayed at the Mirage the first time which I thought was wonderful at the time and had a marvelous time , but the Sea temple surpasses it all.
Just came back while staying here at the end of August.
While in Sydney we heard about the Sea Temple on Getaways. Already booked at Sheraton Mirage, we figured we would try and change our reservation. We are so glad we did! The resort is beautiful. The room was comfortable and clean. The jacuzzi was great. The pools are beautiful. staff is very nice. And excellent cocktails at the bar!
I would totally recommend this place, hands down!
We stayed at the Sea Temple for nine nights in August.
Loved it! We stayed at Sea Temple Palm Cove before coming to Port Douglas and I prefered this resort. The staff were wonderful and the pool is stunning. We have 2 small kiddies and loved the swim out apartment. Apartments are very well kitted out & modern. Very easy to stay in the resort and not do anything else!
Great pool side bar with sandwiches. The restaurant has a great menu and lovely ambience.
Very easy to get the bus into town - they come all the time. Would recommend going to Habitat to have breakfast with the birds. Its also very easy to get the bus there from the resort.
We have never been to the same place twice but would definitely consider coming back here.
The only downside is when there is a conference going on its hard to miss.
