Moving North

Today I caught a flight to Da Nang then took a bus to Hoi An. On the flight, a tall Canadian sat across the aisle from me. I heard him talking to an Australian next to him and I asked if he was American. From there, I learned that both he and the Australian were also going to Hoi An. I asked if they wanted to share a cab and they agreed. We had come in during this strange Japanese festival and almost all the hotels had been booked out. The cab driver drove us around for awhile until we finall...

Good Morning VIetnam

Hi there... Six months Hoi An, Central Vietnam. Working at a beautiful 5-star beach resort, and enjoying the hospitality and friendliness of the locals. In one word: The most honest people I've ever met in my life. Hoi An is a charming little ancient town, but it can get boring after a while if you're used the fast-pace big city life. Peace, - Sam

We have technical problems

We are experiencing technical difficulties in getting the blog transfered from our computer to the internet so we are behind. However, as soon as we can get our computer on line we will be updating the blog. We are having a magnificent time. We had a wonderful time in Hanoi and Halong Bay then we traveled to Hue. Hue is a magnificent city and is on the UNESCO World Heritage site list. You will be getting a blog from both Hue and Halong Bay as soon as we are able. Ginger and I both found Hoi A...

Hoi An

Hoi An is one of the up and coming beach resort areas in Vietnam. It is just 30 km south of Danang and is a quaint little town worth visiting for a day or longer if you are interested in beach activities. We were able to book nice accommodations online at the Hoi An Beach Resort, but got the second night even cheaper from the hotel itself.

Great stay in Hoi An Beach Resort

from Mr.Zipper
My wife and I + 2 young kids just spent 2 weeks at the Hoi An Beach Resort and it was perfect for us. We wanted to relax after a hectic year at work and were happy to just loll around the pool and the beach. We took the bungalow, top-floor, interconnecting rooms = 130 sq metres of space. Great for a longer stay. One room had a kitchenette with basic cooking appliances for simple self-catering. The restaurant was very good and the staff friendly. Regular hotel shuttle to town was handy but lots of cabs also available. Free internet was great and b/fast good. The resort has a private beach section that is off-limits to peddlers - thank god! A beach-restaurant strip (right on the beach) made dining outside the hotel easy but the restaurants varied in quality so it's a good idea to check the seafood's fresh prior to cooking. We liked Nghia restaurant because it served great food and was busy with local customers - always a good sign. Try a river cruise and dinner with Paul in the vegetarian restaurant just before the pink bridge and a really good frozen margarita, served in a small/large ice-bucket (really!), at the Safari bar - yummy! We loved the view from the beach to the islands and of the river from our hotel rooms. The Hoi An Beach Resort is the best value in the Cua Dai beach. We'll definitely be going back.

Beware of termites!

from A TripAdvisor Member
This hotel was right across the street from the beach, had free internet access, had a great buffet breakfast, had large and spacious rooms, and had a convenient shuttle into town - all of which were great. HOWEVER - we stayed in this room 4 nights and on the 2nd night, we came back from dinner and there were loads of termites flying around in our room AND about a dozen DEAD termites that had fallen out of a crack in the bathroom wall and fallen into the sink and all over our toothbrushes. We changed rooms and the second room we got was fine, but our stay was tainted by the first room. Overall the hotel was fine, but not really 4 star quality. The termites may have been a freak accident, but I still don't know that I would go back or recommend this hotel.

Hoi An Beach Resort

from judz
The Hoi An Beach Resort was across the road from the beach and right on the river where you could watch the river life with the locals fishing as they would have done a hundred years ago...large spacious rooms - the restaurant was perfect...free shuttle into Hoi An town every few hours.

Great hotel, peaceful break outside Hoi An

from aussietraveller
Really enjoyed our stay at the HA Beach Resort. This is 5km from Old town but we didn't find this a problem, actually was nice to be out of the bussle of town. Free shuttle bus to centre.

Great location on the river, and opposite the beach.Big rooms with balcony. Lots of little restaurants outside hotel for cheap meals. would definitely stay here again. Staff are very friendly.

Relax outside, right in your room

from A TripAdvisor Member
As long as you don't stay on the ground floor, where noise and humidty can be a problem, the Hoi An Beach Resort can really live up to it's name. It's a bit far from the city center, but they do offer a shuttle service. The shuttle schedule is somewhat inconvenient and often times a cab or motorbike ride is easier to plan around. The beach right across the street is easy to access, and as long as you can avoid the unavoidable peddlers, you can have a relaxing time there. The rooms themselves are nice with somewhat outdated bathrooms. They are equipped with individual air-conditioners, but opening the balcony doors lets in a cool, relaxing breeze to the all-tiled room. The breakfast is decent and served on the open, restaurant terrace, which is a nice, calm place to start out your day. This is a good place to stay if you'll be in town for a few days and will have the opportunity to really relax between visiting pagodas and getting clothes made in the city center.

Nice Beach Resort

from Wiprecht
Good Location on the beach. Shuttle Service to Hoi An City Centre. Choose the River View. Very large and clean Beach - not many people.

Nice Location, Not Bad Rooms

from A TripAdvisor Member
Hotel is about 5km outside of the ancient town, right on the beach. Hotel offers a free shuttle to town which is nice. I liked the quieter atmosphere near the beach though you will likely go to town each day to eat and shop as there is much to do. We had a River View Villa which was very large and a nice patio on the ground floor but the beds were terrible! It was like foam.

Good Hotel, with adjustments

from Helsinki
Good Hotel. Ask for a bigger room when you are making a reservation. Standard rooms are a bit small and you almost share a balcony with other guests. Some rooms with riverside view(though the river might stink a bit). Good breakfast, good service. Has great private beach with sunchairs. Two excellent swimming pools. There are probably a few better hotels in Hoi An, but this one is ok. Four stars is just a bit too much. Frequent free shuttle bus to downtown Hoi An. Bike rental. Many restaurants nearby.

Hoi An is beautiful

from A TripAdvisor Member
A beautiful resort with two pools, friendly staff and fresh fruit everyday. Our room was very spacious and had a lovely secluded balcony with wooden table and chairs. The hotel is a 10 mintue ride into the town of Hoi An but the hotel does lay on a shuttle bus - the times aren't that great so we prefered to take the back of a moterbike with the locals for a pound each way.

I want to go back!!!

My daughter and I stayed here in August 2004. Great ambiance with two story bungalows scattered about a park-like property, a wonderful beach across the road (get up early and watch the sunrise). Pleasant staff, very good restaurant, felt very secure and comfortable.
