Today started out by getting back on 66 West. I soon crossed into Arizona and came upon the Painted Desert and Petrified National Forest. I've always seen pictures of this place so I paid the man $10 to drive about an hour and a half out of my way to see it for myself. Europe (June-July): Again, too far to really plan but mostly Scandinavia or other great outdoor/camping areas. Or we may do more Mediterranean area and try to dip into Africa as well.
P.S. If anyone has any connections or recommendations for any of these places I'd love to hear it! Also, if anyone is planning to visit any of these places at a similar time and would like to travel together that would be great too!

Oh, and the dry heat? It is still pretty hot like the pecan wood-fire that they used to make the salsa. I think it was 109 F when we landed. When we stepped out of the air-conditioned airport to pick up the rental car shuttle bus...it was like, yo. The air is stale and it has a smell to it and it pervades right into your bones. Kind of like a sauna.
... ball park" is rather strictly enforced; this did not seem to go over well with a number of folk (on a side note, when I attended a game several days later in Phoenix Municipal Stadium, several fans in that crowd were still rather steamed over the manner in which the Scottsdale Stadium entry security carried out the confiscation searches - I'll leave it to both sides to sort this out)

My mom and Dad have been up at the cabin, but will return by October. Looking foward to having them as neighbors! Everyone here has been very friendly and welcoming.
