Hi Guys, We have just spent four nights on beautiful Phu Quoc Island. The weather was super, hot and sunny, just what the doctor ordered. Phu Quoc is Vietnam's largest island and is also claimed by Cambodia, it's Khmer name is Ko Tral. The Vietnamese have also built a substanial military base on the Northen end of the Island. Phu Quoc is also famous for it's high quality fish sauce (nuoc mam) and black pepper crops. We stayed at the Sasco Blue Lagoon Resort which was great, we had a villa rig...

... about 10 of us got on; a German couple, American couple, a French girl, group of Russian women, and me. Good mix. The reefs were surprisingly good. Not a hair on the Great Barrier Reef mind you, but better than I was expecting. Saw huge Parrot Fish, Zebra fish, tons of Sea Anemones, Squid, lots of coral. My health and safety self kept kicking in all day though, like how they let tourists drink beers, then go ...
Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam elstevo... a room 30 seconds from the only beach I've seen that rivals Mission Beach for beauty. It stretches for 5km of pure soft white sand fringed in palm trees, with a calm blue ocean stretching out into the distance and no one for miles. The resort pretty much have their own section of the beach, so you can lie under a pagoda five meters from the water while they bring you drinks. My room has a private balcony and looks ...
Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam elstevo... which the king built as his summer home but never quite got round to using. It’s a shell of a building which is (as the name suggests) totally black! We then had lunch at the Ranger Station (which was so good… just fried rice with veg but really yummy and huge portions!) before checking out the ruins of the casino and hotel. Apparently, there were quite a few people who, having lost their money at the casino, jumped off the cliff behind it! Nice… ...
... d gotten to our cottage, we were again dripping. I had to go to reception to borrow a hair dryer. Once we’d dried off, we stayed put. We were both groggy by the end of the day after sitting around on our bed reading, blogging, watching movies, eating snacks, etc. It was good though to have a break from constant activity. We ordered another pizza for dinner and started packing our stuff for the trip back to Ho Chi Minh City the next morning. Got to sleep early and were excited to get back to civilization.
Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam lisabraz... port) and were pushed into a minibus which was full, our backpacks are so enormous they are like another passenger, no room for bags so we hadto put underneath our feet..... our knees were practically in our ears - for 5 hours:(

... spot for swimming & picnicking.. Walked over bouncy suspension bridge for 500 R & 1000R to enter the park. Sat in a picnic hut & ate mangosteens while sitting in a hammock watching family next to me. They love to eat!
Went to Fish Island & Muslim community to Nut Hill, past many salt fields. Stopped in a local muslim fishing village where met a crazy old lady who ...
... cornucopia of shots of exquisite beauty to take an unassailable 8-1 lead. The watching ants could only wave their tiny limbs to applaud some a majestic performance, and the young pretender left the room a broken man.
Unfortunately he obviously went straight to the best pool player on the staff and told him to come and play me, because another challenger soon appeared, intent on reversing my fortunes.
(As you can see, there's not ...
... I woke up just in time to catch the sunset, which was beautiful.
While Katie was sleeping I went off to amuse myself, and after that (boom boom) I went to find the 'billiards table' advertised in their brochure.
The staff's English here is pretty terrible, nearly as bad as my Vietnamese, so after a challenging game of charades and the staff ...
