Spent the weekend of the 15th on the beautiful island of Hainan, just off Guangdong province, with Catherine, Andreas and Nikki. We had been so excited all week to just lie on a beach, swim in the sea, and do absolutely nothing else. We flew into Haikou Friday night and headed down to Sanya, where all the nice beaches are, by train. ... so it seemed like a localised problem. It was nearly out flight so we went airside and say by the gate where we found out that it had been delayed. We discussed contingency plans in case it was delayed a long time and then there was an announcement in Chinese over the tannoy. On investigation we discovered that the airline was paying for a hotel for us and with a mixture of Chinese, broken English and mine we deduced that the best thing to do was to follow everyone else... ...
