    Rubbish!

Hated it from start to finish. The single, only redeeming feature was that the air-conditioning worked really well.
(-) Breakfast - awful. Room - old, dirty, crumbling. Bathroom - awful, paint flaking off the walls, water never truly hot, toilet flushing awkward. Internet - is free in some rooms apparently. Just not mine. 60 kuai a day, and slow, slow, slow. Service - terrible. Woken to clean room! Kidding, no I'm not. At 9:15. The list of awfulness is endless.
Note: I stayed in the old, cheaper part. Apparently the new part (up the hill) is wonderful. I would advise anyone considering staying here to pay the extra 200 kuai and stay "upstairs".

The rest of the day was pretty much spent just lying on the beach reading, listening to music, and napping.
We went out for dinner on a balcony restaurant near our hostel, overlooking the beach which was very overpriced but ...

... fully satisfying. One Italian restaurant with no pasta later we found ourselves some club sandwiches which satisfied our hunger and gave us something to take our malaria tablets with having been told to take them in between mouthfuls. Being a late night flight in China, despite us being boarded on time our plane was delayed by about an hour meaning our arrival in Phuket got very late. We eventually landed at about 2am and found out bags before going through security and put into the Thai ...

En route to Phu My the nearest port to Ho ChI Min (Saigon) city. Normal lazy mix of eating sun bathing and sleeping. Amazing and interesting interview with the Captain who must have been a junior officer aboard the Countess when we travelled years ago! Formal gala night tonight with ...
