      Off Season Getaway

Despite the noise of renovations and occasional shower, Sanibel Harbour Marriott was a relaxing getaway during the off season. Poolside service was steady and the food was delicious. The lady in the shop was extremely friendly and helpful.

Day two was spent at the spa getting a massage and facial. The spa and fitness center was fully equipped and clean. The massage hit the spot and I felt rejuvenated after the facial.

During an afternoon rain shower, I enjoyed a couple of cocktails and a salad at Charley's Bar. The server was friendly and visited the table at the right intervals.

The executive suite was spacious and comfortable. There was a minibar in the room. The only thing that could have been improved was to have Zephyrhills water in it. It was served with room service but a different brand was in the room.

All staff from the valet to the front desk to the concierge were friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend staying here.

We keep seeing the Doo Wop concerts presented on PBS and I thought that it would be nice if we could one day see one live, and so we did. After a quick search online (back in January) I learned that a Doo Wop concert would be held in Fort Myers (March 26). I purchased four tickets and told Grandma, Grandpa and Vera to mark their calendars for an overnight getaway.

From March 25th until we left on March 31 we pretty much spend each day at the beach or pool or exploring Naples. Talked a lot about Naples and Cape Cod and the differences that became more and more apparent.

Kept on I-75 SB to make up some of that time spent on 19SB, and the further south I got the heavier the rain. I was in the 750+ km range when I thought I would stop for the day, in Fort Myers. Pulled off the interstate and took the first Holiday Inn. Here is what my hands look like after being in wet black leather gloves for about 8 hours.
