    ... into the campground and just before we made our turn, we noticed two deer, a mama and her baby. These are the first deer we've seen in this area. They probably don't come close to people during the day. They were so cute.

    ... to try another site, but we would have to pull out and back into another site and most of them are reserved already. Anyway, I drove aback to the entrance and talked with the gate attendants, explained to them what had happened. They gave me several open sites to look at so off I went.     ... we ventured on down the road to their little restaurant. There are actually two, but we went to the "A Frame" which sits on a ridge overlooking the MO River. This is where we had a lunch of brisket (BBQ of course), pulled pork, potato salad, and slaw with rolls. We enjoyed the company of our fellow "wine connoisseurs" and RVers. Except for the flying cottonwood things it was a very good lunch with lovely views.

    After lunch we once again boarded the bus for the trip back ...

    Because how else does one one prepare for a hike except by downloading apps?

    It's dawning on us that we really are doing this in just a month. I keep googling "TMB fitness level" hoping to find reassurance that my daily flat walks to and from work are somehow preparing me for mountain trekking. Google has not offered much reassurance as of yet.

    Tonight Mike is reading our guidebook and I'm testing Travelpod.

    Work was the same as usual, scan a book, shelve a book. Lunch was pretty good, sandwich, chips and an apple. The afternoon was a long four hours, full of lies and deceit. Sweltering heat finally got to me at about two o'clock but I knew I only had an hour left so I pushed through it. When that final bell sang out it was like music to my ears, a sweet serenade. ...
