Would stay here again, good value, nice .

In fact, we did stay again! Staff are fantastic and rooms discounted.

You will struggle to get anything of this quality here for less.

    Many thanks!!

After some research we decided to get a boat straight to Railay island. We turned up not knowing if our accommodation had been booked - they don't like to answer immediately here!- so after landing on the beach we walked the 10 steps up to the hotel. Turned out the room we requested wasn't available so after a little bit of confusion and a slight …

... had made the same cock up and they too were using this as a cheaper pre Christmas base creating quite the travel hub. We eventually secured a moped and headed out. Just 5 minutes up the road, we were faced with the most dramatic skyline. Beautiful beaches, towering palm trees and rice fields had been impressive but this was on another level...Snaky roads wound they way against the backdrop of jungle covered lime stone karsts that seemed to tower over us from all directions. As ...

... rum and coke to have a few drinks in our hammocks before we walked over to a few of the beach bars. The first one we went to had a fire show on the beach that we sat and watched. They had a fire skipping rope going which after another cocktail we decided to have a go! The next bar had a fire ring people could jump through which we both jumped through together! A bucket of rum and coke later and 3 minutes after turning 24 Hannah thought it would be a great idea to set me up ...

... you have to get a taxi boat (longtail). But the boat drivers want a full boat so as it was just me, I had to rely on the fact that other people would be leaving at the same time. This didn't happen. I asked at several times in the morning but the boat taxi drivers all shook their head and at best had one other person who wanted to leave. They said to come back at 5 p.m. which was going to be my plan B anyway, hoping to jump in with a group of people on a day trip. So I spent ...

... warned about this though so walked off to the tourist information desk and booked into a hotel which was a 10 minute walk away from the port. The 'taxi' involved a bloke wheeling our bags in a big metal cart and us following him! The hotel is OK, again very basic but its got a decent view and a pool! We had a monkey sitting in our balcony this evening as well which you dont get every day!

    The town is literally ...
