After sleeping with a crazy fever where I ended up sweating through 4 layers of sheets, I actually felt good enough to head to the market on Saturday, and our first stop was the animal market. We are travelling overland from Quito, Ecuador to Santiago, Chile overland on a big yellow truck with a company called Oasis. The accommodation will involve a mixture of hostels and camping at both bush camps (with little or no facilities) and facilitated camps.

We met most of our fellow travelers that we would be spending the next 7 weeks with the previous evening in Quito .... Heidi and Clay ...

After Peguche we went to Otavalo, where the market is held. On weekends, the market takes over most of the town. Today it only took up about 1 city block. Even though, it was fantastic. All handmade crafts sold for a very good price.

... more climbing experience, so I skipped this one and continued south to Cuenca. Via a short stop in Alaussi I arrived in Cuenca. Alaussi is besides known for its Devil`s Nose train ride. I didn´t take the train, simply because it didn´t just run at the day I arrived...and it did not fit in my (little) tight schedule to wait another day.
