Got back to the resort at 5 and met up with Ivy and her brother who had rented a scooter to go to Sau Beach and had hit some sand on the side of the road. They had a big stack, and while her brother on the back was relatively uninjured, Ivy had banged her knee up pretty bad and scraped a lot of skin off her forearm. The staff ...

Tonight I went to a barbeque the restaurant/resort next door down on the beach had. Expensive (15$), but all you could eat king prawns, scallops, fish, chicken, calamari ...

... the jungle and a sustained 45 degree pitch. Ouch. This continued for another 3 hours, with a few short lulls, but was otherwise brutal (coming from Danny, who has done some hiking)... the humidity was unbearable. Our clothing was completely drenched with sweat (Danny could have easily wrung half a litre out of his shirt... it was like a 30 minute hockey shift). The forest was neat to see up close though... we came across small/localized ...

... some more sober bar staff. When I left he was discoursing about his career in table tennis, with a very C movie on the very same subject on the large TV screen.

In fitting with this oddball town we passed a rather entertaining building and were surprised to find it was the Prison, I have stayed in less inviting guesthouses. Outside, yes outside, were the prisoners, wearing a fitting blue pyjama type uniform. A couple of them ...

I took a minivan today from Sihanoukville to Kampot which took about 2 hours so no bother. Kampot is a small town with it's main attraction being the Bokor National Park and a few other bits and pieces.

After I arrived I went for a wander around and stumbled into a guesthouse/restaurant for lunch where I asked about going to visit the pepper plantation where they grow Kampot pepper (Google it but it is suppose to be the finest pepper in the world, got to ...

... the sunrise which was beautiful and then at 5am - loud speakers on the street made all the vietnamese take exercise at 5am!!! It was hilarious!!

The ferry was good and me and Nicky stood on the deck whilst Simon slept -we arrived at 1030am and then went to find some accomodation. We took a cab to Long beach and found this awesome bungalow for the three of us. We can hear the waves crashing on the beach ...

... quite a nice restaurant where I treated myself and had a steak with local peppercorn sauce (which justifies it), with mashed potato and veg. It was BEAUtiful but did cost me $9 (6-7 GBP) and worth every cent before out trek up the mountain tomorrow.
