We decided to skip the visit to Yosemite, to avoid the big crowd. We will go through an alternative path. In the morning we walk for half an hour through Jackson, visiting the few antiques shops of the main street, which is probably the only one of the village .. Then we drive in the direction of the Mono Lake. The road to get there is as usual very nice, we go through a few mountain passes, the highest one at more than 9700 feets, around 3 thousand meters. We stop in a horses ...

... We can't see it all, but have been told to go to Glacier Point.

We head toward Glacier Point not knowing what we will see. After traveling for almost an hour within the park we arrive at Glacier Point. IT IS UNBELIEVABLE! We are about 7200 feet high, looking down into the valley below. There are HUGE, HUGE, HUGE cliffs and waterfalls that we are viewing from this view point. I cannot describe how large and close the rounded boulder ...

... with a nose full of very salty water. Once my airways were cleared, I discovered how effortlessly I could float due to the high salinity of the water. Copying Mike I folded my hands behind my head and laid back. It was very relaxing, but I soon got antsy as I wanted to look around. I flipped over on my stomach and floated with my head up admiring the tufa and glaciers.

The only downside to swimming was the alkali flies. They were particularly fond of Mike, ...
